A good position, close to the railway station but in an area of Venice which I know well and which is not particularly touristy. The staff were friendly and the room and bathroom very clean. Considering that Venice has for centuries based its prosperity on theft (I am a professional historian!), the Hotel Doge was a pleasant change from usual Venetian characteristics!. The staff are lovely, very close to the train station and easy to find, sharing a bathroom is no problem as it was clean and the room is very quaint and cosy. As a woman travelling alone I felt 100% safe and comfortable. Highly reccomended and would certainly like to visit again!. all reviews »
very charming small hotel. well located. very friendly and helpful staff. Good position, good service, and good staff.Because we stayed just for 1 night I woud say that the hotel it's wonderful , clean, spacious, wth very polite and kind stuff service.It is with very comfortable position closer to Piazzale Roma than to San Marco. It worths absolutely the money. The quiet nature of the street, the friendliness of the staff who went above and beyond the call of duty-thanks Francesca-super!. cool, quiet, staff. Luckily my husband is fit and young and hauled the suitcases up the stairs. Definately wouldn't recomend for families or elders. i was bitten by bugs, probably coming from the wooden slabs on the ceiling. They must take precautions agaist it.I travel a lot and for !50 Euros or an approximate equivalent of $225, I expected more. But Venice is expensive. extremely tiny room. English knowledge of the staff should be better. They only talks theminimal hotel english. It wasn't serious, just a recommendation. While other stuff was kind and helpful, the person who was there on Oct 13 at 23:00 was quite rude. the venice map was not free of charge. High price (normal for Venice), mosquitoes. Coffe, you better ask Italian coffee otherwise you get American Coffeevery, very bad. No elevator. The breakfast is served in the room with little choice and the menu remains same everyday. Upon arrival we were told by the reception staff to use a shared bathroom inspite of we booking a room with attached bathroom. This was only a sheer negligence by the reception and we were finally given a room with attached bathroom. really small room and bathroom on another floor from room. the room was too small. you dont get the value for the money you pay. last time in venice i stayed in a much cheaper place and got the same service quality. Was supposed to be a quiet location but it was too noisy from the building accross the street. Communication with reception desk was a bit of a problem. Hotel seemed old in terms of buildings and equipment. no elevator but only 2 floors max. breakfast didn't have but it was served in the room.Only one bathroom in 2 floor. no facilities. breakfast could be better and the staff aren't nice. The smallest room,shabby bed throw which I didnt even lookunder,radio/tv didnt work-horrendous.

All our rooms are very nice. With one or two windows seeing on the inner garden or on the road. The ceilings with girders in wood, The walls painted with a precious colour yellow ochre. Furniture in wood with a great mirror and the refrigerator inside. All the rooms, except the single ones, are with the bath. Our baths renewed recently, are decorates with a nice tile. They are complete of shower, bidet, courtesy lights, hair dryer, heating and lateral shelf in marble.

Travelling information
From the train station walk across the Scalzi bridge and then walk straight following the indications to Hotel Doge.
From the airport take any connections to the car-bus terminal of Venice called Piazzale Roma (cab-shuttle bus or bus line n.5) and walk through the street to the train station turning right before the Scalzi bridge.
