Maison Tofani is the best kept secret in Sorrento. The staff were exceptional, especially Giovanni who collected our hire car on the morning we were leaving as the garage did not open until after we wanted to leave. Maria the owner cooks amazing cakes and pastries for breakfast which was the best breakfast we had in Italy. The breakfast room and the lounge are beautifully decorated as is the accommodation. Situated around 50 metres from the main square it was just perfect when on foot. Giovanni.
all reviews » We stayed 6 nights in Maison Tofani which is a great little hotel in the historical centre of Sorrento, decorated in the best Italian style. We had a large room with a big bed, a sofa and armchairs, a bathroom with shower - and free wifi! The room overlooked the narrow shopping street. We had a small table and two chairs on the minute balcony where we could watch the world go by. The windows were well insulated as we weren't disturbed by noise. Great breakfast buffet and real espresso availabl. Perfect location in the centre. As parking options are rare we appreciated very much the Valet service of a nearby garage suggested by Maison Tofani. The Piazza Tasso is just a two minutes walk away and the entrance to the hotel is located in a pedestrian street (only after the shops are closed you can pass there by car). We loved the breakfast salon and the presentation and selections of the breakfast, the lemon water, the delicious cakes and fresh fruits…. Perfect location, close to the main square. Extremely helpful & attentive staff. Breakfast was fresh, delicious with a variety of baked goods, meats, cheeses, fresh fruits & juices. Staff were very helpful, especially with advice for travel to Positano. The effort staff make to ensure Maison Tofani is a lovely experience is quite noticeable. Giovanni on the desk is adorable, knowledgeable about the area, good contacts regarding restaurants and most of all recommended a great driver for our Amalfi coast experience. Hot water wasn't working one evening but we were told that a new boiler has been ordered. Otherwise no complaints at all. If staying longer than one night the next time we would rather book a “Classic Double” instead of a “Loft” room. Nothing. It was more than expected. Noise on street - starts at 7 AM and can be heard even though the windows are soundproofed. Nothing. No negatives to tell you the truth. It was not a big deal, but the hotel is located about a block and a half from the nearest point a car or taxi can reach. While this means your luggage must be dragged to the hotel, it also means no traffic right out front. With our windows open, the street noise made it a little difficult to sleep. nothing. Nothing except we only stayed one night which was such a shame. nothing. Wetness. No heating in the bathroom. No idea... Had tea and coffee facilities but no milk. Anglo-saxons usually have milk/cream with coffee and tea. we had to come home !!. The bread at the breakfast was not fresh. A little noisy from the street noise outside. Nothing.
