The Hotel Livingston is on the edge of the island of Ortigia. When you eat in the fourth-floor hotel dining room, the windows on three sides look largely over the Mediterranean, but also over old rooftops. Even in a room on the inland side, my balcony had a thrilling view of the sea. The staff are kind, efficient, and polite. It's an elegant hotel. It's easy to walk to anywhere in Ortigia from there. Or just to swim in the sea and sunbathe on the rocks.
all reviews » We really loved the Hotel Livingston's neighborhood. Walking was a delight, there is a terrific gourmet Locanda nearby. Our room was large with two sets of French doors looking onto the street and to the sea and swimming rock! The bathroom was luxurious - loved the towel bathrobe and slippers. Breakfast was good with an extensive buffet. We had a lovely room with balcony overlooking the Ionian Sea. Staff were very helpful with taking care of our car & making dinner reservations for us. We were able to drive right to the door of the hotel to unload luggage. Lovely huge buffet breakfast in an enclosed rooftop terrace. Easy walking all around Ortigia. Good location, in a nice area of Siracusa, near to restaurants, bars, the Cathedral (Duomo)... We had a large and well equipped double room, with hydromassage, large bed, nice furniture... Good breakfast at the fourth floor, with a nice view. Free car parking (although on the street) available. The hotel is beautiful. It is in a good location on the east side of Ortigia with beautiful views of the Ionian Sea. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. The ristorante on the top floor has a beautiful view of the sea and the food was delicious. Very helpful staff with customized service. They send someone to get me theatr ticket, called the car renting on my behalf and many other helps that was unexpected! Room was clean and big enough. The breakfast was excellent. Very nice room - larger than most, with comfortable large bed and great jacuzzi tub/multi-head shower combo. Location fanatastic to visit Ortigia Island and has great sea-view. Each of the features of the hotel are more than acceptable; well situated, helpful and friendly staff, good sized bedrooms and a pleasant breakfast and dinner restaurant. Wi-Fi was hard to get in our room - no problem in other parts of the hotel. Poor wi-fi coverage in the room. A bit on the expensive side, given that it was low season and Siracusa is probably not a top tourist destination. "Roof Garden" restaurant is not on the roof, it's indoors. Rooms a bit small but not a big issue with so much to do and see around the hotel. The only small thing I didn't care for was that the double bed was actually twin beds with a single bed sheet covering both. There was nothing to dislike. Hair dryer was attached to wall and a bit difficult to use. Restaurant could be better for dinner. a little traffic noise at certain times but don't be put off as the whole experience of staying in old Ortigia was well worth it. highly recommended and a visit to the local market is a must as was Archimedes museum. Very second rate breakfast. No laundry service and no irons in all of Italian Hotels. I don't think it was value for money as our room was very small for the amount that we paid. The website advertises a pool which is not the case. I also was looking forward to a massage which was not available during my stay. Hard to find by car. Although they have parking available this is outside on the street and not secure. Dinner in the restaurant was not as good as we expected. Absolutely nothing!. Nothing. Had no view. Rather dark rooms. That the hotel was full in a week of our Sicily trip and we only were able to book one night via letsbookhotel.com. Spa-centre was closed and had very limited opening hours. nothing. Restaurant, better choose place to eat in center of town. The hotel badly needs communal spaces especially an outdoor space. The breakfast was not in keeping with the standard of the hotel. parking problem. Nothing. Roof terrace all glazed in but we understand why. Room was quite small, air condition could not be switched of. Lighting. Parking was difficult. no coffee/ tea facilities in the room. No wine glasses in the room at disposal. no german or french TV channels (TV5, Arte,Ntv)and a too complicated TV guide. Nothing. breakfast. Expensive. Dinner in Hotel Restaurant was poor. Hard to find by car --particularly at night. Breakfast not freshly cooked. unless you pay for sea view, no balconies or roof top access to enjoy location room quite small. Mini bar not working when we arrived, took over 48 hours to replace. Much shrugging but not much action from staff. All room entry doors appear to stick, requiring a shoulder on occasion... A fire hazard?. We booked double room with balcony, but on arrival were told, that we will get a room without balcony. The only offer to solve the problem, was to cancel the reservation without pennalty and to look for another hotel ourselves. Breakfast was very poor - no fresh bread/rolls. Frozen apple cake served still frozen - no apology or alternative was made. Staff were quite sullen with little interest in the guests. Spa pool was not working and the staff weren't aware. overpriced, not 4* standard needs refurbishment.
