The staff is WONDERFUL, kind and helpful. The location is perfect, It was quiet at night, but still very close to all the action. There was a living room area just off my room where you could meet up with other travelers -with a small fridge. Breakfast started my day perfectly, in a bright and lively dining room with a delicious cup of cappuccino (and pastry with Nutella!- yum!) I will return to La Cittadella on my next trip and highly recommend it to anyone else visiting Florence. The owner.
all reviews » The hotel is lovely. The room is warm and spacious. The bathroom is big and also has a heater. The desk staffs Teresa and the other guy are very helpful. The hotel is very secured, about 4 locks before you can enter. The lift is reliable. It is also 20 meters away from the bus stop Guido Monaco where you can easily take buses to Sta. Maria Novella and other destinations. There is also a Turkish restaurant and various cafes 20 meters away from the hotel and a Tabacchi store by the bus stop. -The building and the rooms are so beautiful, the rooms are clean and comfortables. -The location is awesome, the SMN Station is 1km away, 10 minutes by walk. -The staff are unsurpassable! Very very kind, they help you in all they can and more! -The breakfast is very generous and of good quality. We recommend it 100%, and if we go again to Firenze, this will be our B&B! Thanks. The owner Teresa and her husband are a lovely couple. The hotel is 10 minutes walk to the main train station , and has a lift to get you up the two levels to the hotel . Breakfast was nice and fresh , and enough to get you started . Shared bathroom was not a problem , and there was plenty of hot water , and it was very clean . Good value for money place to stay . Absolutely loved Teresa, so friendly & helpful. About a 15 min. walk from train station, you just turn right & the train tracks will be on your right as you go down the street. Hotel Cittadella is a great place to stay in Florence because it´s in the city center so you can get the important places in only few minutes. The room was clean and the breakfast was excellent. The AC outside my room was pretty noisy at night. my single room shared a bathroom with one other but it was quite a distance. Street noise was a problem for me before midnight. breakfast was the only downside. exact portions per person and the same each morning. there is no window, have to turn on the light even in daytime. The cover of the chairs in the room need to be cleaned, we went out early everyday so it's a pity that we couldnt have the breakfast~it's better to have a minibar in the kitchen. Everyday's breakfast was the same. No meat. It was not very close to the city center, although is close to the train station. Confusing keys - one key opened two doors, & one key didn't open anything. Only one toilet and shower. Only room on the 1st floor can't get the wifi. The location was a little bit far from where we wanted to be, but definitely manageable. very hard to get reception,the door bells on the outside give no indication which one is for reception. I didn't sleep too much, because the hotel is located big load side. So, you should bring ear cap. Expensive for what you get, b&b needs an upgrade, bit poor breakfast. - Sleazy part of town, opposite direction from the city centre - When we arrived, there was no one available to let us in, and we had to ask someone to use their phone so we could call - After the bathroom was cleaned, soap and toilet paper was not replaced - Twice when I went to the office during operating hours, it was closed - Breakfast was barely more than a snack - "Double" bed was really two single mattresses pushed together. Staff does not speak English. We had to prepay the reservation at the time we arrived, before seeing the room. Since the lady did not speak English, it was useless trying to convince her otherwise. Cannot keep the luggage, and the breakfast is a little bit late for those travelers who have a trip in the early morning. Not close to the Duomo and other places where tourists visit. Room, infact whole block of rooms had musty (damp) aroma. Young male help who checked us in was officious and snide. you can't put your baggage there after you checkout . The heater/radiator was on a timer that turned off by 7pm (17:00). From that time on, my room was freezing because cold air came through the windows. The bed was so small I felt if I turned over I would fall off. Which made my sleep uncomfortable. Its not far from the center but its a walk. no washbasin traffic noise. - Breakfast (-) - loud (close to the street) - very unconfortable bed - only italian TV - reception not always open - i missed a lot of things in the kitchen - 15 minutes to go to the centre - old house that smells.
