As we were arriving the front desk staff (I think the owners) let us know that outside we could currently see the northern lights. From the field right there they were visible, they then suggested a place to drive to (about 10 minutes away) to escape the light pollution of Selfoss and see them even better. It was truly a highlight of the trip. When we returned, they had filled up one of the two hot tubs for us, which we relaxed in unde

  This was the best place we stayed. It's absolutely amazing - the guesthouse is immaculate, only a year old. The beds are so comfortable, the room is simple and homey. The couple who own the guesthouse are the most friendly people we met in Iceland, the gentleman who owns the place is so kind and genuine. They have so much pride in their guesthouse... what people say » and have a nice breakfast in the morning. We stayed two nights, and I was sad to leave, it was the best overnight experience we've had anyplace!! Clo - A fantastic place to stay. The owner was an extremely friendly and helpful gentleman, and could not have helped us more. After we arrived, he showed us our room, then took the time to sit down with us and chat about our plans, and gave us recommendations on the best routes to drive and where to eat dinner etc. The room itself was great - it was modern, clean, and comfortable.   The family was very friendly and we got excellent service. We arrived late, but we felt very welcome and was offered something to drink. We sat in the living room and watched a bit of tv and had a beer/cola before we went to our room. We were asked at what time we wanted the breakfast served. It was great to be able to choose. We were there for three nights, and really enjoyed it. The hosts are very gracious, gave us lots of good information on where to eat, things to do in the area. And they were very generous in sharing their home with us on a rainy afternoon. Location is very good for access to any number of sights or activities.
