Hlid Bed and Breakfast - Photos
What people say
The setting of the Hlíð Bed and Breakfast is stunning, on the edge of a lava field overlooking lake Mývatn. The section called the "guest house" is a row of cabins a short distance from the main camp site. These are modern and comfortable and have their own breakfast room in one of the cabins. The breakfast is excellent.
Clean room with comfortable mattresses & adjustable geothermally
heated radiator. Basic breakfast included (coffee, juices, hard-boiled
eggs, breads, fruit, cold cuts, cheese). Courteous & helpful staff.
Ample parking. Good value given the cost of other accommodations in the
Myvatn area.all reviews »
The cabin was decorated nicely, and was clean. Breakfast was good. Friendly staff and owner.
Great location for exploring the area. Staff responsive to change rooms to better view.
The light blocking shades made it very dark for sleeping.
Clean room, ok value for the price in Myvatn.
Clean, comfortable beds, great location.
Room was clean and very new. Location was ok a view was nice. Breakfast was included although not the best ever but ok.
New and good location. Good condition (just a little small) for a campsite bungalow but not a hotel.
It was ok, the room was as the picture on the web, no unpleasant surprises.Dark enough to observe aurora in the room.
The surroundings was good.
Location at Lake Myvatn.
The cabins are small, divided into four with very thin dividing walls. This means I could hear the snoring of the bloke in the next cabin loud and clear. Presumably he would have heard mine too if he hadn't got to sleep first. So our sleep was a bit disturbed. The cabins were very new, so we may be the first year of guests there. I would recommend installing a bit of insulation before next summer.
Only minor dislikes: pillows were too soft for my taste. Room with twin
beds & adjoining shower, sink, & toilet is small, but
acceptable.
The price was a bit high for a 3x4 bedroom+bathroom cabin.
Breky is pretty basic and a little weak when compared with other establishments.
The room was incredibly small. Only room for two twin beds with a few inches around each side. Luckily, it had a full bathroom even though the water had a very sulfur smell, but then that is to be expected in an geothermal area.
Small room, if you have big backpacks.
Felt a bit like sleeping in a container - no sitting area in the room. Extraordinarily basic for £160 a night!! But then this is Iceland.
A bit expensive. The room was really small with no wifi connection. You have to go to reception 200m away. And you need to walk 15 min to the village.
Very Expensive for prefab tiny room in campsite with minimal breakfast. Should be half the price because its not a hotel.
Still think is too expensive, but all Myvatn is so..maybe worth it to spend the night in Akureyri if you have a car.
Too expensive for this service. Container house. Hard to find.Better providing bottled water as tap water has the sulphur smell.
We had to pay in cash. The room was very small and held nothing but two beds and a dusch- and toilet room. The breakfast was very simple.
Very basic and small. Walls very thin, snoring from next part of cabin was as if it was in our room.
The rooms are extreme small.
Only room for the bed, nothing else.
Atmosphere like a plumbing unit. Lousy breakfast. Extraordinary high price - even for Myvatn.
