We found the hotel, a small four-storey hotel, to be well maintained, clean and neat. The management treated us with respect and were very helpful in guiding us to various locations. A complimentary breakfast was included and that was adequate with cereal, pastries, cheese and cold meat with accompanying beverages. The room, itself, was comfortably appointed, clean, neat with comfortable beds. We appreciated having a small balcony which overlooked the street. .

Notwithstanding the fact that Omonia square is generally presented as the Athens' very center, the surroundings of Solomou Hotel and street seem rather decadent as they are populated by some dubious individuals. Anyway, the tourists appear to be safe and may enjoy in peace the splendid city. It will be good to add some vegetables or fruits to breakfast. Would have liked for the hotel to have internet access that we could have paid a small fee to use. Breakfast included free would be nice, too. Air condition is little bit too noisy.There was a problem with the shower head holder. Had to shower holding the shower head. To make room for a group,I was moved from the 1st to the 6th floor. It was quieter,but the lift is slow so it felt less convenient than my first room.The shower ran from normal to scalding to freezing, but I never asked about it. The A/C is a bit antiquated. The area -Red Light- is pretty depressing til you get past Omonia, but I felt quite safe (lecherous men notwithstanding - they're everywhere). Nothing in particular. Breakfast, limited range and cold tea and coffee.The air-conditioner is very old. They could improve breakfast selection and coffe quality. The location was in a rough area. We walked at night, but with reservation. We were pickpocketed near the closest Metro station. The neighborhood was a little suspect, especially at night.the furnishings in the rooms are a bit old and the street at late night is not recommended (but it's just the last 50 meters from Septemvriou). The fact that smoking was allowed in the eating areas was uncomfortable. Also, the flooring echoed a lot, so you could hear every door slam and noise from every room.room doors loud to close, omonia-area is not the best place. The street in which the hotel is situated is rather shabby and the hotel entrance may not be obvious at first, but it is brightly lit at night.The hotel is not in a nice area of Athens. Our room was neat and clean, but the furniture is quite old and little warn. Being a 3 star hotel, I was a bit surprised to see that the shower hadonly a curtain. Also I was shocked to see that one of the receptionistactually smoked at the reception desk.The breakfast is poor, but at the cost of staying at the hotel being very low, i did not expect much anyway so was not a real problem. Surrounded by busy traffic-ridden streets, but I guess this is hard to avoid in Athens - and in fact it wasn't loud enough to prevent us from sleeping, even though our room was at the front of the hotel.Wireless internet did not always work, shower temperature was erratic, breakfast was pretty basic, hotel no longer has a view of the acropolis although the website still says it does and double bed was very small. the location is a little problematic at night. the surrounding; full of drug users.
