The Achillion is a good mid-range hotel in a slightly seedy part of Athens. It is fortunately not far from the Omonia and Metaxourghio metros, and an easy walk to the National Archaeological Musum. The double-glazing is effective in shutting out street noise. Service was exceptional, a lightbulb being changed within minutes of my mentioning it. Breakfast was ample and delicious. Good price, it was only a 10minute walk to the centre of Athens, close enough to walk but fare enough away that you weren't kept awake by late night activities. It was clean and comfortable. Easy to relaxe in those conditions. The staff spoke excellent English and were very happy to help in any way possible.
all reviews » It was an excellent choise for my stay in Athens. The location was absolutely central and near all sites i wanted to visit. Breakfast was great value for money, the variety and quality impressed me for a 3* hotel. The reception stuff gave me maps and helped me plan my day. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we were given a spacious room with a balcony. Everything was spotlessly clean and you are given clean towels daily. The location was great as there is a metro stop at the end of the street. And the breakfasts were fantastic!. Every time that I come to Athens, I stay at Achillion, because the staff are very friendly and cooperative and rates are incredibly convenient. I would suggest this accommodation to all visitors of the City. Good location, just 3minutes' walf from Omonia Metro Station. The streets nearby are relatively safe, policemen were often around, especially in the evening. Great value for money. The location is really super, just next to the central subway station 'Omonia', you can walk to lots of main spots as well as the old town. Staff are friendly, good for money. Room is clean. But not easy to find, the hotel sign is not really visible. The breakfast at the hotel was nice and the room was nice. It was only a 10-15minute walk to the square. Near two metro stations. The bathrooms (I used two) are absurd, huge faux-marble benches around the oversized basins occupying most of the floor-space; the loos crammed behind the doors, with doorstops placed to stub your toes. They were difficult for one person to use, impossible for two. The beds were not very comfortable, the bed I slept in had a bad sag on one side and I felt like I was going to fall out all the time. Uncomfortable. There are only small things to complain about - a light here or there that doesn't work. Also in a double room as a young couple we had two beds pushed together, which meant we kept falling down the middle. Be careful going trough Omonia, if you are coming back to the hotel by foot late in the night. Dodgy shower - whatever you do it either too cold or too hot; area around the hotel is a bit dark & unfriendly. the wifi signal wasn't strong maybe because i was on the 6th floor but that wasn't a serious problem for me. Our hallway from the elevator to our room was so dark, I could hardly see where to open the room - I recommend replacing some globes - some maintenance is in order with regular maintenance checks on each floor... Ommonia is a part of Athens with bad reputation, but this I knew also, and does not bother me. The bathroom, shower not like we have in Australia you had to sit in the bath because it had a hand held shower which could not be hooked onto the wall. Hardly any power points to charge phones or lap tops and hair dryer did not work effectively. The breakfast room was far too hot. not a really nice view from the room... Small bathroom. The facilities are fair. The air conditioner is really strong. The biggest problem is the mosquito. And, there is only one power socket in the room for 2 persons...we have to use the sockets of the refrigerator and the television to charge our phones/cameras... Location is ok, few minutes walk to metro. But the area is very dirty, too many dark man around and shouting, a bit scary. It was in a rundown neighborhood that made us a bit nervous at night to be walking through. The area around the hotel is not very nice - didnt feel safe enough to walk home late at night. In need of a major makeover. Lavatory seat loose, door knob to dining room came off in your hand. Some lighting did not work. Small capacity lifts. Area a little "dodgy" with limited local restaurants within easy walking distance. But not a complete disaster. Area around the hotel. a month ago i went to the same hotel, paid € 35 for 2 persons per night, incl. breakfast. now i was alone and paid € 44 per night incl. breakfast. is the difference not big ??. The room is not luxury as seen in the pictures. The hotel is situated in centre of Athens, near Omonia Sq. but it is very dangerous area (drug addicts use drugs on the street, suspicious people,...) so I didn't feel secure, especially at night. Avoid this area. Bad area to stay in, especially at night Only one power plug in the room (and one hidden behind furniture) No power plug near the desk WiFi in my room had no good signal. Had to use my 3G internet all the time. Bathroom smelled Hot water was inconsistent. Remarkably poor receptionist There was no soup at the room they bring if you insist.
