We also thoroughly appreciated an e-mail from the hotel informing us that the restaurant(le Cavier) was closed on the evening of our arrival.   It is very special to be able to stay at the stunning Chateau des Briottieres which has a great personal feel because the owner, M. de Valbray and his family are the sixth generation to still live there. The chateau and its out buildings are beautifully decorated and well maintained on a glorious piece of parklike property. There are many chateaux and sites to visit in the area. - A beautiful castle with nice grounds. The family owners are actively engaged in the running of the house. We had dinner in the evening with good food and wine. Breakfast was pleasant with delicious homemade jam. The main house had two sitting rooms open to guests (one with a log fire) and a library with billiard table. Our room was in the Orangerie, which also had a comfortable, communal seating area. We borrowed bicycles and explored the grounds.
