Its location to Vieux Port - literally step out of the bldg and you are there. I was there for the Cultural year - so loved all the additional displays of "animals" and other constructions (MuCEM), Pavilion M, etc. I've been to Marseille a few times before and each visit discover something new. -

The hotel was very comfortable and centrally located. The staff was great as well as the breakfast. Lovely room, very comfortable, yet on the small side, but all that was needed. My room was extremely quiet, did not hear anything at all, perhaps because I was on the top floor. It's a beautiful hotel, well-located near the Vieux Port. Our room was front facing, so had a tiny but lovely wrought-iron balcony overlooking the street. The room was clean and simply but nicely furnished with wooden shutters on the wall.

It's a great place to stay when in Marseille if you like to be able to do some of your own meals at home. It's close to the train station but with views out to the water from the upper rooms.
While it's in the city it is only a 5 - 10 minute walk downhill to Joliette from where you you can take a bus straight to the beach at L'Estaque.within 20 minutes. Very comfortable and quiet although works currently going on nearby.
