This hotel had a great design--lots of bamboo and greeness. I can tell they were going for an eco-vibe. Room was big with nice big shower. Very clean. Everything seemed like it was really new. The staff was friendly. Great breakfast in the morning. Much nicer than I expected for the price. Will be staying here again when I go back to San Jose at the end of my trip through Costa Rica. The equip of the hotel is really friendly and helpful. The hotel has a nice atmosphere and situated close to the downtown and bus stations to Caribe and Pacific ocean. The breakfast is simple but has the tipic food of Costa Rica (gallo pinto). The room is confortable and large. The guys of the reception always helped me! Really nice people.
all reviews » I really enjoyed the journey to San Jose. The hotel is very tourist friendly, the front desk staff is so nice, kind and they provide you all the information about the city and the country. It is closed to downtown. The facilities are very confortable and with all the services. There are no luxury trimmings but this no frills hotel is ideal for those who just want a clean safe place for an overnight stay in San Jose. The staff are very obliging and it is within walking distance of places to eat. Excelente relacion entre el dinero y el beneficio, el trato es super amigable y estan dispuesto a ayudarte para cualquier cosa, el hotel es super limpio y esta ubicado relativamente cerca de todo, sin duda lo recomiendo. Nice clean hotel with friendly staff and included breakfast, which I thought was pretty good. The rooms are large with their own private bathroom and shower. Wi-fi access in the rooms and flat screen tv's. I liked the refreshing look of the hotel his friendly staff and its excellent breakfeast. I liked its nature decorations. The lobby was very attractive and the room also had a little style. Everything was very clean and all electronics functioned as they should. Staff was professional and at least one spoke English. I was please to stay at cocoon hotel one good thing was the elevator which vary convenient if your on 3-4 floor the breadfast was nothing to brag about,but it came with the price of the room. Nice breakfast on the 4th floor with a nice view, nice pictures/fotos from Costa Rica. Clean, modern hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are big, breakfast is good. nice price, covenient, big bathroom. The front door when we left after only one night of 7 booked and it closed behind us. Breakfast. Because it is close to the downtown and the bus stations, is dangerous to walk around during the night. Most of the time the water of the shower was cold. And the room situated over the reception are very noisy (rooms 209 and probably 309) because it is possible to hear all the sounds of the lobby, mainly the telephone ring. De noche la zona es medio peligrosa asi que recomiendo llegar en taxi. The location of the hotel is in a rough area of San Jose, but it is close to the main shopping area. San Jose as a city isn't so nice, can be quite intimidating for a group of young (blonde!) females! Shower was very weak. Best views also get most street noise (near major bus routes) Safe, but not nicest part of town. Noisy - something made quite a bit of noise, maybe a boiler??. Noise from the street or lack of natural light in the room. Price to much, you have to pay 10 usd for parking (24 h), breakfast was very limited, you had to pay extra for items ( like sausage, pancake etc...) Better go to the brand hotels at the end you pay the same, for much better quality. The only shortcoming was the uncomfortable bed, but it is common in Costa Rica to only have one thin mattress between you and the wooden bed frame. The only bad thing if your thirsty for bottle water be prepared to pay $4.00 or 2 thousand colones for 1 litre of water, what a shame to sell at that price. I didnt really like the breakfast but it was okay i guess. If you have to leave early beware there's no hot water before 4am. Not all the staff (at the reception they do) speakes English so at least some Spanish is advisable. Locaton, location, location. I was told by three taxi drivers that you would get mugged walking at night near the hotel. They may be exaggerating but it really was not in a great walking friendly area. Inday ok but at night be very careful and prudent. I paid extra for a room with air conditioner and it didn't work. I asked to be moved and no other room with air conditioner was available. I was moved the next night. No refund or discount was offered just " sorry " . The bathroom in second room had no soap dish. I just dropped the soap on shower floor. The room smelt like an ashtray. Location is horrible (prostitutes on the street), breakfast very simple, didn't feel safe in the hotel, the door from the lobby to the street is open all night. The area is not very nice and safe at night. damp smell in room, no receipt for cash pay. The location, the empty bar, the room with a dreadful smell, the size of the room, window to light well only, cheapest furniture, no door lock, fire exit door locked and barricaded from outside, no credit card receipt given, an utter desaster, no refund for 6 nights. Service.
