The staff were amazing. After being delayed for a flight from my home town to Newcastle to pick up a car i called the motel to let them know we wouldn't arrive until midnight. (as we were driving down to Melbourne ) She was so friendly and said she would leave the key out for us. Upon entering our room, the heat pump and light was on, and the electric blanket in my bed was on. Was so amazed that she had done this for us. Would definitely stay there again.
all reviews » We where looking for a motel in this area as a stop over from Sydney to Melbourne, after we visited the Blue mountains in the afternoon. The Colonial Lodge is a perfect stop for this. The rooms and the bath was refurbished and we had everything we need. Everything was perfect clean and the parking is just in front of the rooms. The owners are really friendly an help out with every information you would need. Good spot, particularly the upper rooms with an opportunity to watch the sun go down over a drink on the verandah. Well stocked bar fridge and helpful recommendations on local dining opportunities. We liked everything. A lot of extras that you don't find in more expensive motels. Probably the cleanest motel we have ever stayed in. Real value for money. Well worth a detour from the Hume Hwy. We stayed in the cottage adjacent to the motel and it was great, everything we needed. We ate in the bistro attached to the Australian pub, on the main road in town and it was fantastic food. The hospitality of management. Very friendly. The space - separate living and kitchen made it feel really spacious. Front yard was perfect for kids to run around. At 4.00am the pipes in the wall banged and woke me up. Then it happened again at 6.00 am. I was desperate for a sleep in. I was not cross because its an older building. Would have been perfect without the pipes. Nothing. The nearby traffic noise could possibly disturb light sleepers. Considering Yass is bypassed by the freeway, I was surprised by the number of trucks grinding their way up the hill outside the motel. Their noise was the only downside of a very pleasant overnight stay. Shower was a little small the lounge needed updating and some mirrors in the bedrooms would be good. Nothing. Tight car spaces. Nothing. No negatives. Nothing!. Nothing. the shower was a bit dangerous in its location and the jug/toaster arrangement also a bit dangerous. Package food on offer cheaper to go to Coles or Aldi personally I am not fussed about all the stuffed offered for sale in the fridge. Too tempting for the kids and there is nothing cheap about the prices. No good restaurants in Yass.
