The room was small but was always kept very clean. The hotel is in a quite location and it is only a 5 minute walk to the nearest train station which was very handy. The breakfast was great. George, the proprietor, was a great host. He knows all his guests by name and is always willing to assist. I would absolutely recommend Hotel 59 for anyone looking for the best budget accommodation. We like the owners and found we had a lot in common. The room was larger than expected and we were quite comfortable for our four nights. George and family also provide your choice of a great breakfast. The location was good, we walked to the harbour and only took transit a couple of time but the hotel was easy for using bus or train. We enjoyed our stay.
all reviews » The deluxe double room was very clean and much more spacious than expected, bed was comfortable, bath was large, fridge and tea-making supplies a great help, lovely breakfast and best capuccino ever. I would be happy to stay again at Hotel 59 and wish there was such a place in other expensive international cities. Excelent for the money. George was very helpful and nice, he couldn't receive me but he left me a map of sydney with very valuable info like: bus stops and routes. The breakfast was really nice and the bed was really comfortable. The bathroom was really tidy. He also help me to book the shuttle bus to the airport. Lovely quant little bed and breakfast type accomodation. George and his staff were fantastic and very friendly. Great quiet location. With an awesome breakfast included in the price. Not far from Circular Quay or the Cross. Will definitely be staying here again when return to Sydney. George e-mails everyone and explains that the hotel as no lift and it would be a problem with luggage for the less active type person. His 'Craic' is great, as he is a very helpful and honest person.Good location away from expensive area,but with plenty of pubs and eating places. I was in the Hotel 59 Sydney and I spent and increible time there. George is an incredible person, he has colaborate a lot with me during my stay in Sydney. Location is key, plenty of restaurants locally, good bus service just 100 yards from the door, so quick and easy in to the City, would stay again if in Sydney. The hotel is dated and the decor needs doing, but the rooms are clean and the price is good, ( well for Sydney anyway). The B&B is located only two blocks from a red light district. We quickly learned to avoid going east on Darlinghurst Road. No complaints. Nothing!. For me, it was excellent!!. Need to upgrade some of the furnishings. There was nothing we didn't like. Fairly steep steps to get to bedrooms and no loft so difficult access if physically challenged. There needs to be an iron in the room. When you traveled as far as I did things get a little wrinkled. They had one but you were taking a chance if you used it. Nothing. Room is small but we do not care as we only use room for sleep. Bathroom door wouldn't close completely but it's ok for solo travellers/couples. Lights went on and off sometimes which could seem scary at night. The door locking system for individual rooms needs enhancement / replacement. Noisy at night; really rather noisy. No elevator but that was not a problem because George carried our bags for us!. The internet was a wee bit slow. Nothing.
