My wife and I spent two wonderful nights at Splinters while exploring the many wineries in the Hunter Valley. Their very comfortable and well appointed lodging is situated right in the middle of the many excellent boutique wineries in the area. Having only three rooms and two self contained cottages it is very relaxing, quiet and pampering. Booking ahead is a must and is handled very efficiently by Bobby the owner who will also send on a number of excellent recommendations for the best restaura.
all reviews » Bobby the proprieter met us when we arrived and showed us the room and explained the property. She recommended and booked a restaurant for dinner (and lunch the next morning). The fireplace was already to go. There was cheese and crackers, brownies, breakfast supplies, wine, port, chocolates and a coffee machine all there included in the price. The place was beautiful and the outlook peaceful. Rooms were cosy and beautifully decorated. Reggie looked after us very well - nothing was too much trouble. Lovely plate of cheeses with wine and port left in the room. Breakfast was great. The gardens surrounding were stunning - so relaxing sitting outside on the terrace. The guest lounge was also very comfortable and well stocked with DVD's, books, games etc. We stayed in the self contained cottage - which was fabulous! Spacious, fully equipped, beautiful, and beautiful. There were nice touches such as a welcome cheese platter and bottle of wine, complimentary port and chocolates too. Breakfast was a kit of bacon, bread eggs and cereal, so perfect for a family. The guest house is situated in lovely grounds. Many extra touches were provided in the room. We received a warm welcome from Bobby on arrival, and assistance with meal and excursion planning. Breakfast was beautifully presented and served on the terrace outside our room. Excellent Service and welcoming host who had local knowledge and arranged a wine tasting trip for us. Little touches such as a bottle of wine and cheese and biscuits made the stay special. Breakfast was wonderful, unhurried, cooked to order and at a time to suit us. We ha da great stay! You feel like the owners out a lot of love and attention to detail to create an extremely pleasant & cosy atmosphere in a pittoresque setting. Great for a romantic stay. The location, ambience, friendliness and helpfulness of staff, wine and cheese, chocolates, port and brownies were a treat! Will definitely go back for an extended stay!. Nothing. Children are strictly not allowed in the main building - i.e. if you have children you must book into the cottages, which are a little pricier. Nothing - everything was superb. Would stay there again and again. Everything perfect. Having to leave :-(. Not much except no bedside table next to bed- pretty minor really. Would have been useful to know they had wifi access and the password - a little card or something in the room telling us would have been good. Nothing to describe. The fact we had to leave!. It is a bit of a drive to get to restaurants or other facilities. Nothing.
