The premier twin room with 2 queen beds was beautifully equipped with everything we needed. The staff were friendly, professional and efficient. My partner had told the Rockpool bar & Grill about my birthday, and I was treated especially well by staff. Amazing view of the city and the Yarra. Not looking directly into the window of another building like most cbd hotels. Walking distance to cbd and good restaurants and just far enough away to keep out of the hustle and bustle of the city. We didn't have enough robes and slippers, so we called the concierge and they were delivered minutes later. The concierge made our dinner booking (The Merrywell - great burgers!). It was clean, fancy, comfortable, everything I had hoped for. I brought a small group of friends for a quiet night in and we had a lovely time. It will be my first choice when I have another night out. Staff were friendly, helpful and professional at all times. We received a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and chocolates, the room itself was lovely with a gorgeous bathroom, very comfy bed and a cariety of channels on the TV. The pool and gym were both fantastic as was the reakfast variety and quality. Valet parking was easy and professional. We have stayed many times at Crown, one of the best hotels we have stayed in. We had planned a longer stay there but the service was so slow we gave up. To be honest it was the only place where the saff were actually a bit rude. They claimed it was because they were busy, but only a few tables were occupied. No dvd player in room. I'd suggest eating meals outside of hotel unless you are willing to spend big (for food that isn't better than cheaper restaurants in CBD - it's just more convenient) - but that's expected from a luxury hotel such as crown. So it wasn't unexpected. Nothing, it was all amazing. Despite asking to be spoilt (as my wife is 37 weeks pregnant, this was to be our last evening away for a long time), our 6th floor room had a pretty pitiful view (mainly of the roof of the next building with just a glimpse of the river) and we were told that there would only be smoking rooms available if we rejected this one. It was also pretty expensive night. My only adverse comment would be a charge of $50.00 a night for valey parking and a 15 min wait for the car on leaving. None. Have stayed in hotels where pay $20 for buffet breakfast if purchased the night before, so would have liked that option. Not one thing. Np spa expect more for reptation. Paying such a big cost for wi fi. UK hotels in the main do not charge. can not recall anything. Nothing. the car park was confusing. not enough signage. Had to call maintenance to get tv working, old toothbrush used for cleaning by the look of it left in draw under tv and vacuuming missed the fluff behind the door. bath tub wouldnt empty needs a larger fridge. Only the tea bags. Walking through the Casino by mistake to find the reception. The thumping music from the nightclubs was a little annoying. Smokers on a non smoking floor. It was reported. The motel placed an air purifier in the hall way, but this didn't stop the other guests from smoking. Pillows are way too firm. Internet connection doesn't come cheap for the service. No free internet in Lobby or waiting room. Breakfast is expensive for what it is. Room temperature when it is cold outside cannot be adjusted, so beware of getting a cold... Having to leave. Couldn't find any information about breakfast facilities for patrons. Only found "the conservatory" after we had booked out although I was sure I paid for breakfasts x 2 for two days when I booked. Wasn't informed on arrival as to where it was. Dissapointed that when we visited club23 on Friday night about 10pm we where asked to pay an entry fee of $15 per head. I said charge it to our room and was told sorry cash only here. Was not very happy as we where looking forward to the visit to club 23 as stated on the website guests of the hotel only. The 1.65% surcharge on all credit cards and the $25 charge for wifi. having to pay for valet parking. paying for wifi. We were disappointed that it was necessary to pay for wi-fi. I would like an explanation as to why it is not free in a hotel of your standard. I was able to cross the road and use free wi-fi at a nearby restaurant. Staff at reception is not too flexible particularly when request for late check out extension for 30 minutes, staff ask for a$ 60 for such a short extension. The worst service I have ever experienced. Even after making a complaint, the sevice became worse. high price for breakfast, drink and other food. Very disappointed that the room maid left used coffee cups and wine glasses for 2 days untouched. Very basic room clean during stay. Not much Limited for hairdressers other than the spa. Very expensive!. Very expensive, especially room service, laundry and wifi and car parking. car park was confusing. needs more signage.
