We stay there everytime we come down. I have family in Ballina and I don't like to impose. The Homestead is reasonably priced,close to everything and very comfortable. I haven't tried anywhere else. No need to. We requested a quiet room as we arrived after an overnight international flight. We were put in a room with only one adjoining wall and they had deliberately not let the room next to us. Very thoughtful.
all reviews » The owners are very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and as we were from Qld didn't realise the changed time frame, so left at 11am by mistake and the owners said nothing. Be careful of the stairs, my husband slipped on the tiled stairs. n/a. there were no negatives. ants in room. ceiling fan doesn't work on low (Room 10). location is a little out of the main shopping area. Car parked directly at bottom of stairs, made it a tight squeeze to access stairs, especially at night at night. everything was good. Being upstairs. Stairs were quite shallow and needed extra care going up & down. Stairs and old people should not mix. It rained for a bit. No fresh air in the room. Easily hear the other occupants in other rooms. Terrible wifi internet - needs attentio. Free wifi? Only in the lobby :(. Fridge was off (and hot) even though they knew I would be using it (per my request that any minibar items be removed prior to arrival) Very very tight parking (manager had to move his vehicle so we could park). We left 'please make up room' sign, and nothing was done. Our beds weren't made, the towels weren't replaced, the coffee cups weren't cleaned or replaced. Lack of heating Air con cold only and heater supplied was useless I froze even after putting on extra blanket. Better tea/ coffee refreshments required in room. Unable to make a decent cup of coffee or tea with the cheap crap that was supplied. It does not cost much more to supply descent coffee or tea like Nescafé or Lipton for example. front doors difficult to open and close. tv noise from next room. hard pillows. Parking was very tight. One expensive vehicle was damaged while we were there. Room was upstairs so had to lug bags etc upstairs. Room needed refurbishing, they are in the process of doing this, It was a bit brown and dowdy, but price was OK wouldn't pay anymore. could have included breakfast for that price. Air condition was nt working properly.
