The staff were the friendliest that I had encountered in my 2 weeks of traveling in New York and Boston. I stayed for the convenience of being close to JFK for a morning flight for which I caught the shuttle which runs on the half hour. -

Staff was superb! Customer service was excellent! We had an experience in the lounge where a man came up to our group of friends table. He was very drunk, unwelcome and we had no idea who he was or what he was doing. The staff and manager immediately addressed the issue and asked him to leave. George, the front office manager, went the extra mile to make us feel at
home. We stayed at the hotel for a total of 8 nights split into 2 parts
and in both stays George and his staff were excellent! The room
furniture and fittings superb. Convenience of shuttle to subway was a
real bonus! I'd recommend another stay at Hotel de Point anytime!

Regarding location, some might find the surrounding industry/depot businesses disturbing, but you cannot beat the stunning view of the Manhattan skyline, you have from all rooms and the rooftop-terrace. The area is quiet at night - also if you walk home to your hotel in the evening. Convenient with the complimentary hotel shuttlebus, but you could also easily walk to the subway station Queensboro Plaza 7 blocks from the hotel (8 min walk).
