I loved everything about the hotel. Every member of staff was reallyhelpful and quite lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. The bookingout time of 12 noon was realistic and breakfast between 7 and 11 wascertainly more civilised than some hotels. The staff were friendly,helpful,and totally professional.We were mother,daughter and grandaughter coming together in grandaughters university town to celebrate my daughter's 50th. We got a family room ,so no complaints plenty of room , nice and airy well fitted out. - Position to city centre,and all of things stated in 2, not forgetting the gorgeous breakfasts and complimentary coffee and cakes in the afternoon.

Had a great stay at Burswood Guest House, the attention to detail was first class, down to dressing gowns, slippers, chocolates and real napkins (not the usual paper serviettes) The breakfast was excellent a great selection of fruit and a lovelly cooked breakfast. There was a bus stop nearby which took the strain of parking in the city centre away

What a fantastic place to stay! This was a two night treat weekend at the races for my father in law and did he get a treat, as we did also! It was like staying in a 5 star hotel. The breakfast was better than most top business hotels I have stayed in across Europe. The attention to detail in the bedrooms and the dining room was fantastic. George the owner is a lovely guy and the service is second to none.

very welcoming, unfortunately, due to snow we had to leave early and we were given a discount due to this. We were expecting to pay full price, so this was a very nice gesture. - very good breakfast and friend staff.

The bed linen and towels are lovely, very luxurious and comfortable. The breakfast is delicious, especially the freshly squeezed orange juice. The hotel is close to the city centre, around a 10- 15 minute scenic walk. There are restaurants and a supermarket very nearby. Walking distance to the train if minimal, easy to manage luggage. Staff were excellent. Highly recommend this hotel, it is very beautiful.

Our first experience of a hostel ever & we have nothing but positive comments to give!! This is a hotel without the extras (I.e doesnt have a hairdryer/towels & a tv on the wall), other than that it does exactly what it says on the tin!! Excellent staff, excellent food, excellent value for money all round!!) Would definitely stay here again!

The food was excellent and plentiful. The location was ideally situated for both the city centre and the railway station. Staff were very helpful and polite. Room was immaculate and very comfortable. Also parking on site was a great bonus. Only 10 minute, nice walk into the centre. - The guest house was lovely and clean and the room was the same we were really pleased with it and will definately stay there next time we come to York.

Bar Convent is lovely. It's cheap, clean, safe, quiet, comfortable, welcoming and convenient for central York.
It isn't luxurious, but you don't choose to stay in a working convent if you want luxury. Everything you need is there and more, including a huge garden which is a big plus in York city centre.
