The staff were all very amenable. The seting was fantastic - I had been up-graded to a sea view room which was perfect. The service in the bar was good and the meal that we had was very good. The hotel is beautifully decorated, with excellent facilities. Our room was very comfortable, looked lovely and had doors opening onto a decking/garden area (just a shame it was raining the whole time!) I was with my daughter and granddaughter who is 17months old. Our room was perfect. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was superb and included in the price. If you are looking for a boutique type hotel this is not for you, but I would stay here over any boutique hotel. The setting was magnificent. Beautiful grounds and woodland

The hotel was absolutely amazing! So friendly and had a lovely warm welcome and ports of smiles and politeness from all staff. Food was delicious and well presented.
Our room was AMAZING, we had a beautiful view of the sea and the room was kept nice and clean everyday by the wonderful cleaning staff.
We will be staying again with you in the future!

Brand new state of the art steam room - though the temperature could have been a tad hotter.
Pool was nice and warm, great for kids/familes.

St Mellion is a superb place to stay. The rooms are quite spacious and comfortable with in-room tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The health facilities and the golf course looked great too, albeit our stay was primarily to visit friends in the area and so we were not in the resort long enough during any day to take full advantage of even the swimmi

Only on site for 10 hours (arrived late and left early) - but what I sore was all good.
Breakfast options on the day start from approx £5 if you want tea and toast, lots of options up to the £12.50 full English which was very good.
Spa looked great, would have loved to have spent more time there.
The place was apparently full, I sore about 6 guests during my short stay and heard no one - very quiet. Beautiful surrounds.

We only stayed 1 night, We had a superior room and were very pleased as it was very clean and spacious. The separate spacious bathroom with a roll top bath and views down across the sea made this a very enjoyabale stay. I was bowled over by the friendliness and team-spirited nature of ALL of the staff I met - and also by their constant willingness to assist. I originally picked the Hotel California because I liked the name, wanted to stay in Newquay and the price is a good value.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Interiors are beautiful. The dining room had lots of windows, so you can enjoy the scenery while dining. Beautiful view of the bay from the outside deck. The outdoor pool looked inviting, but the temperature was little to cool for me to try it.
If I get a chance to go back to the U.K., I will definitely stay at the Hotel California
