Just a 1-minute walk from Hida Takayama Museum, Ryosho Hida Gasshoen is cosy Japanese-style accommodation in historic buildings with unique architecture, preserved and moved from the World Heritage site Gokayama. The buildings are more than 220 years old, and surrounded by gardens that change their colours each season. Guests can relax in a spacious public bath. Free Wi-Fi is available in the lobby area.
Simply furnished, each compact room is fitted with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and futon bedding. A flat-screen TV, a telephone and a fridge are provided. Bathroom and toilet are shared.
While staying at Gasshoen Ryosho Hida, guests can purchase local goods at the on-site gift shop. The public baths look out to surrounding gardens.
The property is a 7-minute drive from JR Takayama Station. Popular Uesanno-machi and Takayama Jinya are both within a 10-minute drive.
Local ingredients are featured in traditional Japanese dishes, which are served in the large dining room with a Japanese hearth.

Fantastic traditional accommodation set in beautiful surroundings, with
incredibly welcoming and friendly staff. The morning and evening meals
were amazing, both in taste and presentation. Don't be fooled by
some of the negative reviews.
The hotel is located just outsdide the town, within walking distance of the Hida Folk Village and a great short walking trail starts in front of the hotel.

Friendly welcome and service. Nice dining room and breakfast. However, ryokan in poor global condition, inside and outside. Lack of maintenance. The high price requested is not justified.

The hotel is looking down at heal and is overpriced. It is not as clean and immaculate as you expect in a Japanese guesthouse. Feels a bit run down.
In the middle of nowhere, a very bad place. It's location sucks, it's not clean and the shower works only 5 hours a day. The restroom is discussting and a smell of urine is in the air...
Couldn't sleep for a moment, since the bad mattress heart my back.
