  We stayed at Mama Shelter - Marseille for 2 nights. The rooms itself were full of light and very clean. It is modern and styled for the minimalist, but you pretty much have all you need. The bar and restaurant downstairs is great - good atmosphere and ambience. Food was nice but a little over priced for what you get.   Hospitable staff at the front desk, very clean surroundings. Kitchen facilities ample in apartment. Sofa conveniently turns into a bed at night. Apartment is very close to main shopping high street with well known chains such as H&M etc. Train station 'Jules Guesde' just a 5 minute walk from the station.   The hotel is a wonderful spot. It looks relatively new and is much larger than I expected. The rooms are large, very clean, and well appointed. After many negative experiences with self-check in at places in France, it was a relief to have someone at the front desk 24 hours a day. Highly recommended! - It's a great place to stay when in Marseille if you like to be able to do some of your own meals at home. It's close to the train station but with views out to the water from the upper rooms. While it's in the city it is only a 5 - 10 minute walk downhill to Joliette from where you you can take a bus straight to the beach at L'Estaque.within 20 minutes. Very comfortable and quiet although works currently going on nearby.
