A very simple 10 minutedrive to Alton Towers and right on the doorstep for local amenities. TheHotel itself was very clean tidy and had a nice quiet but friendlyatmosphere. The meal we had in the evening was excellent and reasonablypriced. The staff where friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough foryou. Made us up Bacon sandwiches to go.

Staff - From when we first arrived the staff were so friending and attentive. The young guy behind the bar checked us in, booked a table in the restuarant, got us a round of drinks - awesome service. Our waitress was great she was so friendly and even stopped in to say bye on her way out.

Friendly helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Decor excellent, room comfortable, ambience welcoming and obviously popular. Evening menu was excellent and breakfast was good. We would recommend the Dog and Doublet and if travelling in that area we would hope to stay there again. Thank you to all the staff and Nathan but thankyou to Natalie in particular. She made us most welcome and paid attention to small details.

Ability to book up easily and be looked after efficiently. We only stayed one night after a wedding reception near by and were able to access town easily leaving car safely. We have been once in a group before on a Christmas do and were pleased our stay was as satisfying. thankyou for a good nights rest and excellent breakfast.x -

I have stayed at the Old Royd for many years when travelling to Alton Towers and I have never had a bad word to say. They get better infact, every year. Very pleasant and comfortable and within easy reach of all pubs, restaurants, tesco and attractions like Alton Towers. Great value for money and they cater for larger families as well as groups of friends which can sometimes be difficult to get a room for. The room was lovely, food was amazing, all staff were helpful and friendly. They are also pet friendly which was perfect as we had our two dogs with us and they were allowed in the bar area and there was good seating and service outside which also meant we could take advantage of the weather. Also lots of free parking and wi-fi. Overall very happy with our stay.

Very good accommodation. A lovely room with excellent en suite. We particularly liked the small kitchen available for our use, although we only used it for making cups of tea. It was well equipped and its contents were well thought out. Phil was a very pleasant and likeable host. Loved the animals.

We were on a trip to Alton towers and the location was amazing! We all loved the breakfasts, the variety was amazing and very personalised. The staff were friendly and the farm was lovely my little boy loved feeding apples to the horses.

Stanshope Hall is a fabulous place to stay. We got a last minute rate of £60 for a twin room which was exceptional value for money but I would not hesitate to stay again at full rate. Lynne, our hostess, was very friendly and gave us tea and home made flapjack on arrival in the lovely drawing room. The photos online do not do the twin room justice in my opinion, the bathroom in particular is excellent.

its no problem. When we got there we had a warm welcome a laugh about it
