  We used as a base to visit Naples and Pompeii. It was fine for this. We drove to the local station and went in to Naples buy train. (Your a braver man than me if you drive in). 40 minutes by train. Naples can get a bad rap these days but if you are careful it's a great city to visit with some outstanding thing to see and do.
