  The owners were so friendly and welcoming and made us feel so at home. We booked La Mare Elan as a stopover point both at the beginning and the end of our two week holiday, and I can honestly say that all six of us were really looking forward to staying there again and spending time with the owners again. Breakfast was so enjoyable - with fresh bread and pastries, home made jams and bowls of cherries and redcurrants picked from the garden. With other guests and the owners on hand throughout, it had the atmosphere of a House Party.. The previous evening on the recommendation of Madame we ate well at a hotel on the coast at Houlgate La Mare Elan is a real gem!
