I traveled as a solo female and I felt safe in the hotel and surrounding areas. I traveled through the city by using the transit which is very cheap at only $1.50 for most buses.   If you're staying in downtown L.A. this is the perfect place. It's ten-fifteen minutes away from studio tours, Sunset Blvd, and a little further to the observatory.
