I was expecting a nice, clean, modern budget freindly hotel. the rate was only 179 per night which is cheap by nyc standards no matter what part of the city you're in.   I liked how the staff went out of their way to accommodate our requests even though they did not have to. The room we stayed in 814 had an amazing view of midtown manhattan and was very quiet. Subway is only 2 blocks away. Very friendly staff and the restaurant in the basement is serving an outstanding omelet :-)
