Set in a Grade II listed 17th-century barn, Tonge Barn is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and offers individually designed rooms with wooden beams or red brick walls. A large, curved, white leather sofa features in the guest lounge area, which also has a flat-screen TV. Breakfast is available in Tonge Barn’s spacious dining area, which features wooden floors and contemporary furnishings. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout this guest accommodation. An LCD TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a hairdryer are included in each room at Tonge Barn, which also has a private bathroom with a power shower. Originally part of the Tonge Mill Country Park Craft Centre and the mill pond, which dates back to 450AD, Tonge Barn offers free private parking. Sittingbourne town centre is just a 5-minute drive away and Canterbury’s historic city centre can be reached after a 30-minute drive.

The location, set in a rural setting and away from main roads is lovely. The grounds and courtyard are very relaxing. The rooms outside in the courtyard are like small log cabins and are very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast is good with high standards of excellence throughout. The staff are very helpful and whilst I have been honest is the things I did not like I certainly would not be put off staying again and should be taken in context.

this is the second time we have stayed at tong barn first was our honeymoon and was excellent . and this time was the same we had family with us ellie and steve were very helpful as usual and the family liked the quiet secluded setting the place and steve and ellie make you feel like its a home away from home highly recommended for a quiet weekend good eateries nearby we will be going back again love it... This was my 2nd stay in 4 days! Diffrent room but the same high standards. No bedside table for me and just a chair to use but a small point. Another room where there was no door on the bathroom but OK. Bed was comfy and room and facilities clean with good standard of bathroom toiletries etc. Very pleasnat and helpful staff and a great location. The open plan courtyard with lovely grass and shrubs is excellent.
Great little hotel.very attractive setting and buildings. Quality rooms with lots of space that are well set out, bathroom with wetroom - fantastic - nice and powerfull with constant hot water. Better than many 4* hotels I've stayed in. Service is excellent friendly,welcoming and efficient.. Fantastic country cooked breakfast.
Beautiful setting, picturesque with a lovely garden from where I could the sound of lambs calling in the adjacent field. Lots of local walks through countrside close by. The rooms were stylishly finished and the building truely stunning as a barn conversion. Minor issues were addressed by manager as soon as addressed.
Great for those attending weddings etc., a very spacious king bed and single in a separate room space. Very friendly service and family setting, communal breakfast, great for conversation in the morning. Rooms spacious, comfortable with amenities required for B+B.
The rooms were really clean, country and comfy. Good facilities and very nice presentation throughout. I loved the overall feel of the place and would use it again. The breakfast bar/table area was really good, nice breakfast with a good range of foods.
The staff was very nice, genuinelz friendly. They'll do a lot of small things to make you feel welcome. The place is very cozy, especially the breakfast area, the rooms are quite basic.
Friendly and accommodating staff. We checked in late but were still greeted with a cheerful smile. Lovely location. Great breakfast in the morning. Would definitely stay here again.
I liked the barn feel, the peacefulness and the decor. I also liked the fridge and microwave and the beautiful power shower in the room. Also that you could drive up to your door.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Accommodation was very clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Wifi was very fast in all areas. Recommend garden rooms :-).
Selina (I think that was her name) - she worked so very hard, all of the time, with no help from anyone as far as I could see! Full marks for effort. Excellent breakfasts.
Comfortable and cosy room with attractive furnishings. Very good value for money and the breakfast was lovely. Staff were very friendly and we could relax in the garden.

Location good, comfortable bed, the staff (one young girl) tried hard but was on her own in a lonely spot and had to do everything, reception, cleaning, cooking, security.
The area, the style, the room was spacious and the decor was good. The barn has plenty of potential and is a place I would consider re-visiting.

It is right next to the main railway line which once you get used to is ok. There are no doors separating the toilet from the bedroom which feels a little strange and gives you a feeling of lacking in privacy.

There is only one large table for all guests to sit around and eat breakfast. This could be off putting for those who prefer to sit together and have some privacy. We were the last to eat and there was a large amount of used plates and partly eaten food left on the table. Obviously very busy and only one person cooking and serving. The food was of a good standard but clearly had been saved and not cooked fresh - apart from the eggs.
My partner prefers a continental breakfast so she would have liked some pastries etc to be available. The only down side to a great little hotel.

Power showers not very powerful and hot water was in short supply.
I was not aware of the train track was so close, at first i was aware they were passing but after awhile it didnt seem to bother me and did not disrupt my sleep.(I am a light sleeper) The noise level was low once you were in your room.
Would be more inclined to have breakfast if there wasn't just one long table for everyone to sit together at.

The towel rail in the bathroom was coming off the wall and the toilet brush was dirty.
Near train tracks but not too noisy, a little remote, but we were provided with business cards for a local taxi and local pub, which were great. Friendly fast taxi service with knowledgeable drivers and an enjoyable meal in a welcoming pub. So overall no real negatives!.

the pressure on the shower wasn't right so took a few attempts each time for the water to stay on for longer than a minute.
Few cobwebs bathroom ,otherwise spotless.
Bathroom a little bit small. Train line is close by, but doesnt run late at night. Room only had a skylight, but we did have option of changing to another room. Rooms with french doors are best option.
Nothing about the hotel I didn't like apart from the fact the bar was dry and that included the mini bar in rooms because the owner was away(poor excuse frankly).
Bathroom/ shower room was tiny and slightly shabby, but clean.
It would have been nice to have an evening meal at the Barn instead of having to go out.
Minor thing but lumpy pillow. Dinner recommedations would also be good. We ended up at the ship inn it was lovely.

Room extremely cold. No heating put on until just before our arrival and on second day turned off by cleaner so room was completely cold when arriving back at 8.pm.

Small touches need attention - towels good quality but too small, hairdryer missing, only one type of tea available on in-room tray etc.
No view outside - only small window in roof 'Very' small bathroom.

The room was small and the shower room minuscule, towels were well worn and small. No window, no wardrobe and noisy trains. Breakfast OK , some fruit and yoghurt would be nice. Would prefer separate tables.
The facilities, the cleanliness of the barn, also housekeeping was poor.
Bed was a bit tired. Train line ran just behind the rooms. Trains started about 05:00 hrs.
I booked for 5 nights but due to cancelled meetings, I only stayed for 2. I was unfortunately made to pay for all 5 by the hotel proprieter. This will prevent me making future bookings. Only book if you are certain of your duration.
Apart from there being no hot water in the sink the shower 'room' was a 'work in progress' and needs finishing. This will enhance the overall experience a lot.
The trains rattling past every 10 minutes until 11.30pm and again from 5.30am! Also is a very odd reception area, I really thought I had accidently gone into someones kitchen!.
bathroom too small kept banging my elbow when trying to shower. if bent over the sink when cleaning my teeth had to be very careful not to bang my head on the shelf. breakfast my wife and i were asked if we wanted tea or coffee wanted 1 of each got 2 teas, asked if we wanted white or brown toast asked for 1 of each got 2 brown.
No wardrobe or drawers nowhere to unpack. Nowhere to put anything in the bathroom. Sink too small, no hot water in the sink. Noisy - train going past, neighbours snoring through thin walls, people talking outside the room. No privacy - window onto corridor and through another window to the car park. Inadequate lighting. Turned away for breakfast because there were too many people around the main table and the overspill table hadn't been made up.
The attitude of the management. We simply wanted to change the day of our booking and they refused. They had plenty of rooms available on both days so it wasn't lke we stopped them renting a room or anything. They robbed us. I will not be staying there in future despite having a job in the area - they have lost a potential of 5 - 6 nights for two / three people due to their greed, inflexibility and intransigence.
