I travelled to the Oldham area for business, but wanted to stay away from the usual chain hotels. The Old Bell Inn was a perfect choice. Situated in a small village at the edge of Saddleworth Moor, yet only minutes away by car from Oldham. Very friendly staff, excellent beer and food, both at the bar and in the adjacent restaurant. Comfortable bed and an excellent freshly cooked full English breakfast. What more could one want?.

Everything!! We were welcomed by friendly staff (Especially Lauren!!) and made to feel at home straight away. Everyone was very pleasant and polite - nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere in the restaraunt/eating area was nice - typical country pub feel to it. Already recommended to 3 or 4 people in two days and I will be making a booking for my birthday in November.
The service was first class from the moment we arrived to the minute we left. We had to leave early on the Sunday morning and the staff came in early so we could have breakfast. The rooms were all spacious enough and very comfortable. This is certainly worth a visit.
The staff were efficient but very friendly and could not do enough to help when it was needed. The food was excellent as was the service. We took advantage of the family lounge to spend some quite time but the bar was comfortable and lively early evenings.
Friendly staff, amazingly comfortable room, excellent food & beer. The surrounding area looked lovely but due to time of year (late Nov) there wasn't the required daylight to explore. I would return and strongly suggest you stay here if nearby.
Comfortable homely and welcoming for the solo business traveller. Excellent value especially when compared to Premier Inn. Well located for both the Manchester area and for West Yorkshire.

In keeping with the "old inn style", there are no ultra-modern facilities: expect creaky floorboards, steep stairs, no airconditioning and wash basins without mixer taps. This may be an issue for some people.

Road noise from the room we stayed in as we were at the front of the hotel.However this did not worry us unduly.
Traffic noise was an issue due to single glazed rooms that overlook the main road passing through the village.
room was a bit small, glad there wasn't 2 of us but i guess they may keep it for single guests even though it was a double bed.

Nothing negative really although a minor niggle is that the waitresses do say 'enjoy' on leaving the table which is a personal hate and one that all restaurants seem to encourage their staff to say. I'd rather thay say enjoy your meal or nothing at all!.
Full English was a little disappointing. I felt portions of mushrooms could have been bigger; fried egg was overcooked; beans were on the dry side and the toast was dry.Use local organic products!.

Only niggle was that our shower was not very powerful at all.
Probably my own fault I booked one of the superior rooms for my wife and I, The room was situated up 2 flights of stairs. I should of mentioned I am disabled. Like I state this was my fault and not the hotel.

We stayed in the new build extension which was beautifully decorated. But the door frame had moved so it was easy to think you had locked the door, but as it was not in proper aligned you had not.

Was in room 2 by the main road which to be honest was noisy due to the traffic.
We stayed in room 2, it was a quite dated & the en-suite was very cramped, we thought it was over priced at £120 per night, as we spent a couple of nights in a quite plush 4 star hotel nr Earls Court London the weekend before at a cost of £100 per night, no comparison.
Shower did not work so had to use adjoining room. For what it was £120 per night was expensive, those are London prices. This time of year we pay £80 in the wesy country for comparable hotel which includes dinner.
