The hotel and room were really clean and well presented, in particular the enclosed "beer garden" with heaters were a very welcome addition to the hotels facilities. I didn't stay long enough to form an opinion on the staff but from the short time I spent there the staff came across as very amiable and helpful. I would certainly recommend The Bell to family and friends. The rooms were clean and comfortable, even if British sinks tend to be a little small. The staffers with whom we had most of our dealings, Vlad and Fillippe, were most courteous and helpful. By our second day they remembered what we liked and prepared it promptly. And of course we liked George. How could you not?.
所有评语 » The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially the Romanian guy behind the bar who could not have done enough for me. Great sense of humour and pleasant stay over. Also really decent food selection. I would recommend this place. Lovely country pub with beautiful rooms. Really good welcome and lovely building. The food is fabulous, not what I expected at all. Served on a wooden platter, well cooked and loads of thought put in, there is a great chef there!. The staff went above and beyond to make us welcome. The towels were changed daily, the room was spotless and breakfast was lovely. The location is very pretty, I will stay again and recommend it to all. Typical cosy British countryside hotel, very nice terrace and sussoundings. If you are looking for something different than concrete blocks this is the place to be, highly recommanded!. Genuinely friendly helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere in the pub. Their pizzas were surprisingly good. Breakfast chef came in early because we needed an early start. Good Wifi. Excellent staff, good food. Rooms very comfortable and nicely designed. Nice location in the country but only a 10 minute drive to Newbury. Friendly dog! Highly recommended. Staff were really, really friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was fantastic The village where it's located is absolutely stunning. Easy access to the M4. The ambience of the hotel was first class. The bar was well appointed, if a bit pricey. The room I stay in was spacious and comfortable. Everything about the pub/hotel was comfortable. The staff could not be more helpful and informative. Would definitely stay there again. Dinner was good, but pricey for the type of establishment- more expensive than Marco Pierre Whites Caernarvon Arms which we stayed in recently & which is relatively close hence the comparison. It was a nice old pub with rooms. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was ok. It was a traditional B & B. Exterior was apealing. Bar staff were friendly. The hotel needs a complete overhaul!!. Location good for motorways. Nothing to do with Bell at Boxford, but we wanted to mention to someone that when one doesn't drive those narrow hedgerow-lined roads regularly, they can feel like an adventure. Room could be a little warmer but it certainly wasn't cold!. That I haven't been before. I had no warm water in the morning, maybe because I let the tap dripping (however unlikely as it should not use much water?). Still this should be an incident, I am positive about this hotel. Well to say this was a negative is too strong - but the decorating of the Bell was very "original" and could never be described as underdone!. The whole place needs a good clean. The bathroom was rather small with a particularly small sink although the shower was excellent. Our room looked out onto a scruffy bit of dumping ground, but as we only used it at night did not bother us unduly. Only complaint we booked twin room with view but ended up with double with no view at all. not quite so keen on the restaurant menu. We booked a single and twin room in the same booking yet the rooms we were allocated were at opposite sides of the building which was far from ideal. We were not warned of steep stairs when booking which my mum struggled with and if known we would have asked for a ground floor room. The ensuites could do with a little renovation but they were clean anyway!. Rooms a little cool . on suite very small basin to close to toilet. I had a ground floor room which was very comfortable and cool considering it was 30oC that day.However it was noisy at night as it right next to the seated bar area. Ensuite could have been a tiny bit more decorated could see a lot of rust and pipes on show. Menu overpriced. The air conditioning unit kept us awake all night. The owner didn't apologise when we told him. Bathroom very very small and shower and curtain very stained. A lick of paint would be useful. the noise the staff were makeing at 12 which went on till 2 30 we had a long journey we wanted a good night sleep. Stale food smell in the bar. We were advised that the chef was 30minutes behind and did we mind. At that no, however the single course arrived 2hours after ordering. This was not acceptable and when advised on paying dismissed . The untidyness. Bedroom was bit shabby with a terrible view over yard full of rubbish. Scrambled eggs at breakfast were microwaved and so rubbery they were in edible and bacon was overcooked- v disappointing for a pub setting itself out as gastro. No vegetarian options on a large menu. The shower room needs attention. There was mold and the tiles need regrouting. Getting to and from the room was very messy with personal effects. It was not worth what we paid for the room. However if would warrant a lower price. Room bathroom was poorly cleaned mould in shower. Room could have utilised space better by rearranging furniture. Evening meal was not cooked as requested and meat described as rump was tough. The shower was dirty & leaked badly. The only food in the restaurant in the evening were pizza as the kitchen was closed and the trainee batman had to cook and serve behind the bar. The breakfast waiter came to the table In dirty clothes and waving a mug of tea which he was drinking. But the food and service was ok. The place was filthy. It needed a complete deep clean. The staff were talking loudly into the night in the smoking area which was right outside my room. very dirty and smelly.
