Lovely rooms, good food, excellent service. Enjoyed ambience of hall and rooms. The rural setting was excellent, the hotel gardens made sitting out with a GandT memorable, the bed, a 4 poster, was very comfortable and unlike most hotels we stayed at the shower was simple to use and very effective. Away from the busy town. The beautiful surroundings and the ability to relax in a charming atmosphere. Everything. Beautiful hotel and room, service of staff was very good. A lovely valentines get-away rose and petals on the bed!. Wonderful setting, old-world feeling. Rooms very comfortable, although bathroom could do with an up-date.The character of the place, the tranquility, and the friendliness were all good. The setting, the building and the room. Open fire in lounge. New Dining Room. Food. Quirky furnishing. Uniqueness!. Beautiful gardens friendly staff lovely views. The ambience. The room. This hotel is in a beautiful setting. The room was warm and comfortable, and was well equipt, the hotel accepts dogs. The location and views from the hotel. Everything else was extremely poor.Food was a bit overpriced. I found it hard to find. Better directions on the web-site would help and I didn't see any signs for the hotel before driving past it. The trees pretty well obscure the sign above the wall. The food was not as good as we hoped for. Could of done with more staff, room was not service until 5pm and long wait on arival to book in. Set menu in the dining room quite expensive but there was no other option. Breakfast doesn't start until 8.30am so we had to leave without getting any. I'm used to being able to get breakfast any time after 6am so that i can get going whenever I want. It was a bit irritating that everyone was still asleep just before 8am. I had to leave my credit card details on a piece of paper as there was no-one around for me to even pay my bill. The bidet filled up when you emptied the bath. Reception area and first impression. Locked door to lounge. Smell in bedroom corridoor. Dated crockery.Meals were very expensive hotel not well signposted. More of a menu choice over the two days would have been better. decor and facilities dated. No atmosphere, no ambience at all, information about the hotel and what is offered non existent. The room was overpriced for its size and for the time of year at which we stayed. We booked a valentine's day meal in the evening which was appauling. We waited for an hour and a half to be seated at dinner, then the service was extremely slow, food considerably overpriced, served lukewarm, and differed from the details on the menu. Yes, the headboards in our room were dirty and stained, the bed valance and throw were old and scruffy (did not look clean). The carpet was stained in quite a few visible areas. The whole room required painting. The windows were not able to be opened due to secondary glazing being screwed in. The chemical toilet in the en suite made a dreadful noise plus there was a faint smell in en suite.
