A family-run inn at the heart of the Lake District National Park, Three Shires Inn is a traditional Cumbrian slate property with free Wi-Fi, a bar and award-winning, home-cooked food.

A beautiful location with stunning scenery and pleasant walks on the doorstep. Hearty food for breakfast and an excellent choice on the evening menu. A cosy, nicely decorated and clean room. Even the autumn weather was lovely!.
The layout of the inn is such that you are happy to have a drink in the bar and sit and read in the lounge. Both areas are delightful.

no mobile phone signal at the hotel, although not a big problem and is to be expected in the lakes..

although we had pre-booked an evening meal we were told we did not have a table in the restaurant.
Constructive feedback -children's meals were overpriced and did not include enough healthy options. Also I expected proper homemade chips and fresh fish (on kids meals). Sounds trivial but proper chips enough of a reason to eat in coniston on the second night of our stay rather than at hotel.

We shared a room with our granddaughter and it was a bit cramped. Only problem though with the room was that there were not enough surfaces on which to put things.
