This was a really beautiful hotel. Easy to find, plenty of parking and in beautiful surroundings. The garden was particular lovely, as was the quality of the food (we ate off the bar menu and it was very high quality). Beds were super comfortable and rooms blended together the modern and old perfectly. The hotel has a lovely feel to it. We would definitely stay again if we were back in that area, and that's saying a lot as we are the sorts of people who usually like to try new places often.
所有评语 » I love the fact that my husband and I can relax. We love the location. We love everything about the hotel and I feel that we will become regulars. we both have very stressful jobs and we work 13 hours most days. we like the fact that nobody can contact us on our phones. There is no guilt factor about work. It is peaceful unlike London. Very comfortable hotel in a beautiful location. Lookk out onto lake Derwent water. Lots of lovely walks in the borrowdale Valley. No need to use the car. Bus stop immeditaley outside the hotel into Keswick and to other villages in the Borrowdale Valley. Lovely garden for enjoying a relaxing drink in the afternoon sun. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and our dog was very comfortable too. The location is perfect for walking in the mountains. We only ate in the bar because of the dog, but the food and service were excellent! Thank you for a wonderful stay Borrowdale, we will be back again. We have visited the Borrowdale many times over the years and it still maintains the high standards we have come to expect. The food is excellent although we still remember, with some nostalgia, the superb 7 course dinners of yesteryear. The room was freshly decorated and well appointed. Staff are exceptionally helpful.The special offer rates were very reasonable, especially so over a bank holiday weekend.Wine list is extensive. Good food & modern comfortable bedroom in a traditional hotel. We had bar food in the evening which we thought was excellent. We stayed at the hotel 33 years ago and were pleased to return. Lovely traditional Hotel, warm, comfortable with high standard of food and service in the dining room. Ideal location for exploring Borrowdale and surrounding area. Good value for money. The view. the bar,the fireplace,cozy...... I can't think of anything. Hotel room was too warm this last visit. Rooms are quire small. Nothing really. First impressions were that it was a little old fashioned, but that actually adds to the charm. There is nothing to dislike about the Borrowdale. It is in a superb location in the Borrowdale valley, within easy reach of Keswick, providing an excellent base for walking, and driving, thoughout the Northern Lakes. Window was open & room cold & no way of turning on heating. The room we chose (standard double) was too cramped. The weather was beautiful but had we needed to spend more time in our room it would have been difficult. Staff in reception and management were not very friendly or approachable. Not a thing!. Nothing!. the receptionists both in the evening when we checked in and in the morning were both surly and unhelpful. Breakfast was served at 8am, later than we needed. We were left queuing at the door and told by the receptionist it would be 8am sharp (7.55am at the time) and not to wait around. such a shame as the hotel itself was so lovely. Having to leave. Only a very minor point, but the service could be slow and once allocated a table, that was the one you had. You could ask to change, but it could be difficult unless another table either was free or became free. nothing. There were a lot of dogs staying. I am not a fan of them as I am allergic to them. However they were all well behaved and you could not tell if there had been a dog staying in our room previously. absolutely nothing. catch broken on bathroom door which squeaked badly disturbing wife at night. No roast potatoes with roast beef most strange!!. The price ! If it cost less we would come more often !. In house menu extensive but a bit expensive, we went out to eat. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the evening meal. No onsite leisure facilities. Ie: pool, steam/sauna. Although the option to use the facilities at the Lodore Falls Hotel would probably not be taken up by many people, especially in inclement weather. view temperature(too hot). There was nothing we didn't like. The quality of the food in the restaurant fell short of the setting and service. N/A. Unable to open 1 of the 2 windows and the other only opened to 6" making the room very stuffy and bathroom a little cramped (room 2a). The room was a bit stuffy and only one window could be opened. N/a. Having to leave!. Breakfast service was poor. (No Toast). nothing. Ambience was old fashioned and without character Food was expensive and poor value for money. Service was slow and sometimes brusque. On the whole, the atmosphere was unfriendly. Even though we are in our 60s, we felt far too young to stay in this hotel. It tried to be a luxury hotel, but failed. Insolent and insulting general manager Inept assistant manager Careless and overbearing waiter Dirty item from previous occupant on bedroom floor Would never use this hotel again. The room was not what we had expected from the web site picture.We had asked for non smoking the first room smelt of smoke,so they changed your and said it was an up grade,this was not so as now the room was much smaller and there was no bath tub only a shower. Our room was surrounded on three sides by a car park which made our room seem like a cheap american motel. They didn't like that we'd booked via this website and said because we went to a wedding there we should have paid more and via them. the food was like made just from salt....
