I really enjoyed my one night break here. When I arrived, all reception staff were occupied but my presence was acknowledged and I was checked in efficiently. My room was on the top floor, small but a nice size for a single and everything was clean. The room was hot, given the recent weather and it was a relief to see the fan already there - I definitely needed it. The pool area is not too glamorous but the pool is a very nice size for swimming and a good temperature. As were the steam and saun.

The room was clean and tidy, nice little biscuits with tea/coffee etc. Yes the hotel is slightly tired, but in a quaint way, felt very homely and personal, much like the staff, very helpful and polite. The broadband is quite limiting, many words are banned. even sensible ones that I needed for work, but not a real issue. Breakfast was excellent & service quick and friendly, a good choice of hot & cold. Yes there is housing around the hotel, but if you want so. 1) Staff were great, they all genuinely looked like they were happy to be at work and were happy to give directions and advice for things to do in the local area. 2) Pool and Sauna/Steam were great and nice to see staff in the vacinity too in case of an emergency. 3) Breakfast was lovely and set in a nice room. I would def stay here again... Good location within easy reach of A14. Hotel has a luxury feel about it without making you feel out of place. Breakfasts and dinner were tasty and well cooked with a good choice of dishes. Staff very friendly and made us feel welcome. I told the hotel we were there to celebrate my wife's birthday and they placed a card and chocolates in the room and in the evening the chef added Happy Birthday and Balloons written/drawn in chocolate sauce to her dessert. Thank You. Lovely building and gardens, old world atmosphere. Didn't use the restaurant for an evening meal but will use in the future. Very good breakfast and friendly efficient staff.Overall a nice change from modern hotels. The hotel offers excellent value for money without compromising attention to detail. The al a carte menu was fab as was the bedroom and spa pool. My husband even got a birthday card from the staff. Room very comfortable. Decorated very well and fresh. In a very nice quiet setting but near enough to evening attractions. Staff very helpful. Very nice breakfast with plenty of choice. I like this hotel as it is very near family we visit regularly so staying here is very handy for us. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the staff are very helpful and courteous. Everything. For a mid-price hotel this is hard to beat. The facilities (pool, jacuzzi, gym) are first rate and included in the price. Fantastic value. Good size room, comfortable large bed, good size TV with freeview, french doors to the garden, brilliant breakfast. Very quiet. Leisure facilities, good restauraunt service, free Wifi in room, price was reasonable for a hotel with leisure facilities. Staff very pleasant food was ok and not over priced bar service was excellent. in general the hotel was not too bad. the staff were very helpful at all times. We arrived early and this was no problem we were given our room right away. Friendly staff and a nice setting made this a comfortable place to stay even though I was travelling on my own. Comfortable traditional atmosphere with well maintained grounds and buildings - excellennt value. The peaceful location, plus the charm or an older building.The staff are very much on the ball. Nothing. 1) If I was to be critical I would say that my room needed a bit of love, there were stains on the carpet and the bathroom needed re-sealing around the bath and were mould patches on the silicon. 2) The ventilator thing in the bathroom made a noise all night too which was a bit annoying. These things could easily be fixed and I would still stay here again but I think £85 was a little high, this should have been £65 really... N/A. Our stay was not long enough at this lovely traditional hotel. Bathrooms could do with upgrading but not too untidy to complain about. There are areas of the hotel that are tired and in need of some tlc, such as the decor, the plumbing in the bathrooms and some of the furnishings. We noticed this time that some of the decor had been reburshished which is good but there is still room for improvement. Nothing. Room 518 was very hot even with the window open, I would hate to think what this would be like in the height of summer! Although the food and service was excellent, I had a very bad upset stomach in the early hours of the morning and may have been caused by the smoked fish starter. The location is through housing estates and is backed up in the morning due to traffic lights, roundabouts and the School Run so choose your departure time wisely. No bell in reception. Waited 8 minutes before any one came to the desk. Also at breakfast and dinner, notice "wait here to be seated" never anyone there, you always had to go and find someone. a gopod map of the location of the hotel would be most usefull. Belstead road is very long and not very straight.It upset the sat nav!!!. Breakfast times are a bit early 7-10am would have been better.The Hotel is also in need of a bit of TLC in places. Gurgling plumbing. Bed a wee bit small. A satnav is a must to find place !! Some rooms are in need of decorating eyc but this is at the moment being done. Food and service. Nothing!!!. With my wif being disabled at present it was rather a struggle from room 412 to the dining room. Access to reception from the carpark was not easy(steps) and I had not noticed the platform lift. Only issue was that weekday breakfast only ran until 9.00 am, which is quite early if one would like a lie-in and a swim. Many similar hotels offer breakfast until 10.00 am. Bathroom could do with updating as it's a bit old and tatty. restaurant - poor menu choice, expensive, poor service, poor quality. Toilet paper. Nothing really. Room was really warm. I booked a room with a garden view and we had a view of the rear car park, but it would not stop me booking again. Bathroom needed a bit of tlc, not unhygienic just a little bit tired. rooms a bit dated, but still extremely comfortable. temperature control in fitness room, it was too cold during workout. Room could benefit from modernisation especially the bathroom. The hotel is situated is slightly confusing to find even with the signposting. Leaving and finding a way out of the estate to a main thoroughfare is interesting. Rooms a bit tired. Bathroom was old fashioned and marks in bath where enamel was worn. the rooms are a little tired and could do with a lick of paint and upgrading. nothing. Pillows were too hard and inflexible. Breakfast in our room was not fresh. Parking was difficult when we arrived. 1% Meals/ sandwiches. Although couldn't fault the breakfast. Nothing. Antiquated bathrooms Slow restaurant service when there are parties booked. More waiting staff needed. breakfast was just a bit too early. Did not have enough time to spend there. Could have done with more bar staff.
