Set in a grade II listed building, opposite Eastbourne Pier, Claremont Lions Hotel offers magnificent views across the English Channel. There is a traditional restaurant, cosy bedrooms and friendly service. The individual rooms at Claremont each have tea and coffee facilities, a hairdryer and alarm clock. All rooms have a private bathroom, and some have refrigerators and wonderful sea views. The delightful Compton Restaurant serves traditional British cuisine, using fresh local produce. Overlooking Eastbourne’s seafront and sandy beach, the restaurant also offers world wines and cooked breakfasts. Just metres from the lively Grand Parade, Claremont Lions is set in a distinctive Victorian building. Eastbourne Old Town and scenic Downs can be reached in 25 minutes’ walk, and the lively shopping areas are a 10-minute walk away.

We had a roof facing the English Channel as requested. The location is outstanding, right across from the Pier. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Full English breakfast was good and wait staff was very friendly and fast with service. View from hotel....staff very helpful...food was good....large fridge supplied...good value for money..Welcome of staff, upgrade to double room.

Bar could have been more friendly. the breakfast. My room needed more ventilation as the window would not stay open! TV was only tuned to BBC 1 and 2.Channel 3 and 4 did not work!. The noise each night. Unable to sleep until the night clubs closed. Guests should be warned. The fact that it was so near the pier and was very noisy on Friday and Saturday night. Double glazing on the front rooms would help.food and restaurant was appalling ruined whole weekend.booked hotel to celebrate my nans nintieth birthday.food ruined this celebration. Rather run down. The hotel appeared to cater for large coach parties. When we, therefore, had dinner later than the majority of the other guests at 7.30pm there was little choice remaining. The menu was the same for private guests and for coach parties, however we felt that the coach parties were probably not paying the same price. At £15 per head the evening meal was extremely poor value. Bedrooms could do with updating a bit, everything looks a little tired!I know it can't be helped but it is noisy at night around the pier area. The room was a little shabby and not particularily welcoming. The cooked breakfast was very small and not very nice.Car parking in and around the hotel is a disater. Corridors were shabby but main public areas were clean and bright. yes plenty, noice coming from hallways and doors is unacceptable and no car parking available. Staff all seemed non uk so found it hard to communicate 100% which when paying money etc its too much to risk if someone didn't understand.no parking, very poor shower, small lift ( 2 people and its full). My room was very, very small. Although it was booked as a single room I would not have had any room for a suitcase at all inside the room, it barely enclosed a single bed, a chair and a chest of drawers. For less money i could have stayed in a Premier Inn and had a double bed, sofa and a bath in the ensuite bathroom. Decor is very outdated and i have to say shabby now.It was old and seedy. Not good decor. Shower had no hot water. Dinner not to our standard as frozen vegetables served. Basement bar surrounded by old and broken furniture. The room was appalling wallpaper hanging off, bathroom door would notclose, toilet difficult to flush, damp coming through walls, T.vreception poor. Excessive noise from lift door through the night.Would never use this hotel again. Can not believe this has a threestar rating.
