The Royal Marine Hotel is a lovely Tudor-style building and has been modernised, whilst retaining original period features. Free parking is available and free Wi-fi in some areas. Ghillies Cafe Bar has an extensive menu of classic dishes, light meals and succulent grills. A full Scottish Breakfast is served daily in the lovely Kilcreggan Dining Room. All bedrooms are en suite with tea/coffee making facilities. They also have TVs and some rooms have sea views.

The hotel overlooks the Western Ferries terminal for the Gourock Ferry and is ideally placed for ferry travellers. Staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. Rooms were a little tired and in some need of fresh decoration but they were clean, well appointed and the facilities worked. Breakfast was substantial and thoroughly enjoyed. All in all, this hotel was great value for the price we paid.
所有评语 » Stayed in a luxury double room, ( Arran),which was enormous with a four poster bed and massive roll top bath in the ensuite. Very comfortable with grest views. Evening meal and breakfast both very nice. the hotel rooms were warm and comfortable, staff helpful and welcoming without being intrusive, good service in the breakfast room staff looked after us well, would visit again in the future. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and made to feel at ease, we had a sea view room on the top floor, the food was wonderful and we ate in the gardens as it was such a lovely day. The room was comfortable. I was there to attend a funeral and I have to say that the purvey provided was absolutely wonderful, could not have been bettered. Comfortable bed and good sized room. Good food in resturant boh breakfast and evening meal. Friendly efficent staff. Excellent value all a round. Evening meals have to be taken in the adjacent Ghillies Bar which is best described as small and uninteresting, althought the staff were very friendly. The TV in my room couldn't be seen from the bed which was disappointing.The hotel itself is approx 2miles outside Dunoon so not very handy unless you have a car. This may be nothing to complain about but at breakfast I had porridge which I was looking forward to having but am afraid it was tasteless. The Ghillies Bar/Cafe although beautifully warm it lacked the dining atmosphere, it was most definitely 'a bar' I selected from what looked like a very nice menu the lamb casserole but I am afraid it certainly did not live up to my expectations. Absolutely nothing!. The rooms and, to a lesser extent, the public spaces are tired and could seriously do with refurbishment. So if you're looking for state-of-the-art facilities in the rooms, this is not your place. But if a trip back in time is your idea of fun, and you don't mind your grandeur a bit frayed around the edges, this place represents excellent value and a friendly place to drop anchor for a night or two. No lift, My wife has difficulties with stairs and access to the shower was impossible. The TV was rather small. In need of refurbishment. Heating not adequate. Portable TV fell a bit short of what is expected. No fridge in room - would have been useful. nothing. Bathroom a bit outmoded, shower difficult to use. There could be extra bed pillows for those of us that like to read in bed upon retiring. Could do with a lick of paint but a very old building full of character hard to maintain. Absolutely nothing. Nothing. Having to leave!. The party of octogenarians with faulty hearing aids all shouting at one another at breakfast. To basic. Canned potatoes served at dinner. luck I was fit room on 3rd floor. Bedrooms need updating. The very dim lighting in the room/no radio/very old TV,would be willing to pay for Wi Fi in the room,the bathroom was. Quite large but had a tiny shower and very thin towels. Realise that this a listed building but these few things would make a great difference. we would have liked to had dinner that night in the hotel dining room as it was our wedding anniversary and we wanted it to be a wee bit special but we were told we had to eat in the bar which was a bit too noisy for us so we went out for dinner elsewhere. -only food available on arrival at 9 p.m. was a packet of crisps at the bar (barmaid apologised but said she wasn't allowed to make up even a sandwich despite the bar being completely empty) - coffee and tea facilities being hidden away in a drawer ... provision of even a biscuit would have been nice! -beds were poorly made up and bathroom looked shoddy with very makeshift shower repairs and poor quality fixings. the location it was a bit far out to walk into dunoon which both me and my wife did was exhausted by the time we got back. hotel needs a complete revamp to up date it to the 21st century,but i dont think you need to know that from just myself. My mattress was atrocious but other bed in room was good. rooms, price. No lift Not very clean, (slug trail in bedroom and window frames dirty). Shower handset broken and water was cold. Virginia creeper growing over the window which obscured the sea view. It was very tired and was in dire need of a make over. Limited lounge area. Poor Quality Rooms and facilities (Cigarette burns, overheating,, windows that would not stay open as sashes broken Unavailability of a-la carte meals in restaurant when allied my to my comments aboutv the bar Depressing atmosphere in bar which made me seek to eat elsewhere. I had to wait at the reception for 10 mins before I went looking for someone to deal with something for me I found the woman manager just talking in the kitchen she did say sorry but I don't think this kind of service was good enough someone should be on reception at all times and I should not have to walk around a hotel looking for staff.
