The staff were excellent we a minor problem and this was solved with speed and efficency. This is a hidden gem of a place with good food and excellent views of the hills and the golf course the gym and pool were also well maintained. Most of all the feeling of being welcome was evident and comented on by others in the hotel which was busy A must for a weekend away to rest and relax. A good all round hotel, very modern and exceptionally clean. The hotel spa is the best that we have ever been to, The menu was very good with a particularly nice breakfast - overall we were very pleased with our choice for this hotel for the weekend.

All the staff were polite and friendly without being pushy. We enquired on the day before our arrival about upgrading and for £10 per night we upgraded to one of the brand new deluxe rooms overlooking the golf.course which was fantastic.I stayed overnight after a wedding reception at the hotel and evrything was perfect...excellent meal at the wedding and excellent breakfast (except there was only toast no bread but that may have been peculiar to Scotland). The facilities were excellent and the staff very attentive. The views were terrific - I had never had a spa treatment before and thoroughly enjoyed this experience and would have more now.The room was in a lovely quiet part and had an excellent bathroom with separate shower. We enjoyed the pool spa area even tho' the jacuzzi was temporarily out of order. It was a great deal with the fabulous food aswell. We do not often get the chance to stay in such beautiful hotels. The gym was great and the staff were marvelous.Easy to find, great staff, service could have been slightly better in the conservatory but overall, excellent. As always all the staff were extremly friendly and helpfull. The room was clean and very comfortable.Excellent place to stay, very clean and well decorated rooms, great facilities, friendly staff. This is not a complaint - but being our first time at the hotel we found actually finding the hotel quite difficult after exiting the A80, it would be very helpful to have large signs before the correct exit from the A80 as I think we tried quite a few exits and never did find the right one. No problem with accessing the A80 after leaving the hotel - just finding it the first time was trick. very little my room was a fair walk from the reception and easy to get lost if you are not observant.would be nice to have a mini bar and perhaps a dvd but thats about it. The reception area tended to have queues both for booking in and out of the hotel - more staff perhaps required at these times - or someone to step in and help out even. Room service was very quick, but the meals could have been a little warmer. It was a little cool whilst sitting in the lounge area.The downstairs rest. was not open again and the food and service upstairs is letting this hotel down. The downstairs restauraunt was closed and unfortunatly the bar grill upstairs only has a very limited menu.The cost of food in the Hotel was far too expensive and because of this we decided to eat elsewhere. As far as I'm aware we got a special offer and I think that it is usually a bit more expensive. However you get what you pay for and everything from the room to the food is of the highest quality.Eveyrthing was great. the queue for breakfast. i would say some of the resteraunt staff in the bar and grill they didnt look happy as if they couldnt be bothered and we where waiting a while before a drinks order was taken. Also the choice of food was limited, but in saying that the food was nice and some of the staff were very friendly. The price of alcohol and the fact that an optic did not appear to be used. Lack of any entertainment within the hotel. The hotel was full and we heard the question being asked about entertainment on several occasions.Service a little slow. Shower was not warm just before dinner time. The heating in the new extension was far too hot and could not be turned down. room was much to warm (in farthest wing of the hotel), but a fan was quickly provided. Overpriced for location, which was at least 20 minutes out of Glasgow in the boonies. The service of the waiting staff in the Golf Lounge was appalling. Internet access is very costly, most quality hotels are now FOC. The staff espcially the bar, restaurant and breakfast staff, never at any point seemed to know what they were doing.The beds are very uncomfortable and not compatible with a 4 or 5 star hotel.The breakfast was not as enjoyable as it should be due to the poor nature of the demeanour and organisation of the staff. On one morning didn't get any tea or coffee with breakfast (not self service) same evening waited 45 mins for my meal, didn't get my drink until half way through my meal and my starter arrived as I was finishing my main meal. The following night I was told at 8pm, in a bar that states it serves food until 9pm there was going to be no more food available as they were too busy!. The hotel staff was very rude and the administration not well managed. Checking in took an hour because they had all sorts of problems and in the end they gave us a twin room instead of a double room that we had booked. the service in the main restaurant was poor at breakfast and unorganised at dinner.the lack of choice from the bar/grill menu was poor and i ordered grilled chicken but it was boiled so the menu was misleading. That we could not check in early as requested without upgrading, staff at breakfast were not very helpful. Diningroom service was slow and only on reading the dinner menu did you find out that there was a price ceiling for the meal on the break. the food wasn't goo. service in the bar and grill was very slow and breakfast by the time the tea and toast came i had finished my breakfast. Bad service in Club Grill and very bad food. Cold and not cooked well. i booked 2 rooms, realised i only needed 1 so called bookings.com in advance. Bookings got in touch with the hotel and were not able to cancel my booking. I then asked the staff member to cancel, based on the fact i only needed 1 room. He in turn asked the manageress who responded with a 'no'. I travel continually, and know that such a decision is down to management discretion.At check-in we were advised that we didnot have 3 rooms as booked butone twin room and one suit.on a take it or leave it basis. The suit hadrecently been gloss painted which made sleeping with the windows closedimpossible, we both woke in the morning after a poor nights sleep withhead aches and sore throats, it took 1hr between 1st and 2nd course,this is 50% of the complaints that were made.
