The location was perfect- not in the heart of the town but a very short walk- nice and quiet.Breakfast was very good value - they could cook almost everything you wanted. Flat screen TV- thumbs up! Also bed was very comfortable-hard to find in many hotels!! Big and fluffy towels- very nice too!. The atmosphere in such an old and interesting building. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was cosy and comfortable.

The breakfast was excellent and the staff very attentive. It was pleasant and the room was large, clean and comfortable. The water was exceptionally hot whenever needed. Housekeeping was spot on too. The second room I had felt much more comfortable than the first and was a lovely room. The staff were excellent - friendly and helpful. Quaint well sized rooms. Lots of character. The two tap system is very english but it would be so much easier with the mixer!. Everything was great!. Car park is not easy to get into and spaces are limited. No negatives. A very old building and some staircases very narrow and steep. Nothing. Period property but decor has a dated/tired look. Unfortunately the hot water wasn't working due to a fault. Our room was quite small but OK for just 1 night. Shower needed up carding. there was a shower there but you could not use as we where in the roof. The reception is a hallway. I would say it was an extremely good B&B rather than a less than average hotel. It cannot compete with the average expectations people have of an hotel i.e. a bar, a reception area, lifts etc... The lack of toiletries. Weak coffee at breakfast. Quality of full English wasn't there. Could do with some mineral water in each room. It is advertised as having King sized beds but ours certainly was not being a small double consequently we did not sleep at all well. Accommodation not what was expected - more like a poor ish apart hotel room. Room very small and not very convenient up a narrow, steep stair. Still much to be done. Not 4 star. Toilet did not function properly. Room poor furniture ie bedside table /dressing table.No BUTTER at breakfast and wrong meal delivered ,had to wait for correct meal. Nothing. Over-rated as 4 star accommodation. abbey hotel however no bar area lounge area no tv more of an expensive B&B.
