The lovely garden. Helpful and friendly staff. Superbly comfortable bed. Huge bath in the bedroom and a very snazzy bathroom with both a power and a rain shower. A very decent range of real ale (locally brewed) and a quality draft cider. Location was ideal for us - the town itself is a thriving centre with options if you wish to eat elsewhere. and perfectly situated for exploring. The delighful (and lazy) Millie. This is a dog friendly hotel and as a dog friendly but non-owning couple we e.

Great location, amazing views from the room. The bars have roaring fires with plenty of choice including real ales. Very enjoyable stay in a comfortable, clean room with lovely decor and more than enough tea/coffee/hot chocolate provided. There was also a traditional stopper bottle of filtered water which I thought was a very nice touch. We found the staff very helpful and friendly, food menu/breakfast excellent and nicely presented. Would definitely recommend the Castle and hopefully will.
Everything really. The staff are friendly, service is great, food is very good, rooms are modern but practical and there are all sorts of nice little touches that show that thought has gone into providing a welcoming, comfortable stay, e.g. daily weather forecast, lots of leaflets and maps, recommended walks and suggested places to visit. And they welcome dogs.
It was very good. Staff all made you welcome but not fussing. Food was excellent and always on hot plates. Great breakfast with cheerful servers. Lots of detail in hotel, maps to borrow, anything you needed for room just ask. Rooms were 4* well done to management and team.
This is a thoroughly excellent hotel overall which I would have no hesitation in recommending. We particularly liked the way our little Boston Terrier Abigail was made so welcome. The gardens at the back of the hotel are lovely. Food, beer and service were all excellent.
The castle hotel is in the centre of the small town, it is very well decorated, comfy, clean and good value. The shower was amazing. I ate in the pub in the evening and the food was fantastic and the bar area dog friendly as well as the hotel. Would def stay here again.
The hotel and surroundings were very good, and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff which made it a very enjoyable holiday for us. Each morning a news sheet gave items of interest in the area, and a walk -very thoughtful and appreciated.
Quaint quiet town but accessible to larger more bustling towns. Beautiful countryside and great choice of walks straight from hotel. Hotel had a lot of leaflets giving ideas for daytime activities. Breakfasts and evening meal set you up for the day.
Staff very helpful, I had forgotten to warn them of my daughter's severe food intolerance but they were very helpful and the chef whipped up special dressings. The second night they were ahead of the game with a list of dishes she could eat.
This hotel is perfect, we had a huge room which was beautifully decorated. The owners Henry and Rebecca were so helpful. There is a lovely garden with views, the food was superb, and the situation in the town is ideal with lovely views.
,od accommodation and service at the castle hotel is always off high order and represents very good value for money, my mother and I have eaten there fairly frequently over the last 18 months and it really is very good keep it up.
We loved the bath directly in the newly refurbished bedroom,with a fabulous view!! The gardens are wonderful. Excellent local beer. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Location superb. Will stay longer next time.
We felt welcome from the moment we arrived and nothing was too much trouble, service always with a friendly word and a smile. We were delighted to have found the Castle Hotel. And the food was excellent too!.
The room was comfortable and it had an old worldly feel to the place which felt comforting and safe. It was clean and all facilities were near at hand and the staff were very welcoming and thoughtful.
we were in a room that had been upgraded it was stunning it had a roll top bath in the room plus a shower room . it was so clean the food was fantastic the staff were very polite and helpfull.

The hotel is in a lovely town and has a very relaxing feel. Ideal place to unwind. Food and beer excellent. I have recommended the hotel to friends in the past and they continue to visit.
We enjoyed the warm welcome, the fires in the bar area. A daily paper, a good breakfast, good wine and food. Lovely fresh towels in the bathroom and a good quality and plenty of them.
Great views of Shropshire hills, nice residents patio and excellent garden and terrace areas. Staff helpful and efficient , food also very good. Good selection of local real ales.
Location at top of town, oak-panelled breakfast room, sensitive refurbishment of historic building, pub section which retained pub character (and served good local beers).
The hotel has a lot of orginal features and is very charming with beatuful country veiws. The staff went out of their way to make us welcome and ensure we had all we need.
The views, our cosy room and the fact that dogs are welcome in the bar area. The meals are great and not overpriced. We have been back twice and feel welcome here.

The town clock was charming during the day but at night we had to close our bedroom windows which we would have preferred not to. Ear plugs would have solved the problem but not an option for one of us.

On a Sunday evening I would expect a few tables in the bar not to be laid up for food. The only area do drinking was a sofa at the end of the bar.
Had an issue all weekend with no hot water to the hand basin in room 9 but it was not a major problem to us. Was given a discount off the bill when checking out.
