The Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was welcoming and you felt you had come home to a nice meal at night in a well serviced place. It was not as cheap as we might have liked but the value was there. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Clean rooms, good breakfasts, had both a (semi)formal and a casual eating area with good food. Bus stop right in front of the hotel.

The breakfast was generous, the poached haddock particularly recommended. the ship theme in restaurant décor - excellent, imaginative good food, reasonable prices efficient booking system comfortable room competent, friendly staff. The room was good and the breakfast lovely very well cooked one of the best I have had for some time. I did not try the evening meals. The food was very good although the choice was limited. Very kindstaff, good fish restaurant. Tje same as all hotels in Britain; creaky floors, although this one wasn't as bad as some. The decor was rather tired, and my room was in an annex. I arrived late, and had to find my way there by way of an unlit path, open to the street. The door to the annex, also accessible to the street, was unlocked and on the latch. ultra-low TV volume (I was unable to adjust it) unable to open room windows / draw back curtains unadjustable curtains in breakfast room (blazing sun prevented paper being read). Food service in bar variable depending on member of staff - from excellent to average. TV screen (room 11) too far away from bed (or too small) to watch comfortably. Nothing. Poor WiFi, Most Staff were good but one manager was poor. Thought room prices were a bit on the high side. Food is expensive (but very good). somewhat dated room deco and furnishing. I had a room on the second floor They have no lift I was and not offered a help with my heavy case I am a lady traveller. I am over 60 yrs old it would have been nice to have been asked if I would like my case taken up for me. The bathroom was not the cleanest. Wide rooms, but the furniture is rather old and would require some refurbishing.
