The best value for the money. During our trip to Spain we stayed at 4 different hotels at the same price range and Hostal Carrera was the best. Excellent location at the very heart of Madrid, walking distance to all major attractions and metro. Very clean. Staff is friendly, helpful and speaks English. Very satisfied. the rooms were very clean and the saff was nice ,the hotel is right in the center of the city and this was magnificent,at the entrance there is a little shop with delicious sweets :"miljohas" are the best :).

An excellent value.The staff speak english an are very courtious and make you feel like youare part of their family. They can help you find the best restaurantsand transportation to any site you wish. Air-conditioner was pleasantand so quiet that you almost can not tell it is on. Convenient location, staff were helpful. Hotel was manned 24 hours a day. Rooms were cleaned every day with clean towels. Good value for money.Good place in the centre of Madrid. Staff has a lot of difficulty to speak either French or English.The common area of the build should receive more attention. The internet wireless do not reach all the rooms. Unfortunately, someone went through our luggage and removed items when we were out of the room. Two bags had candy bars taken and two bags had articles of clothing removed. We found the clothing hidden under a blanket in the back of the closet. We believe that the housekeeper removed the items and hoped that they would not be missed until after we left. This event disturbed us.Toilet cistern didn't work, sink was also partially blocked, although I asked for a cot, we had to buy one out of el corte englais, for 45 euros. Lack of any food or drink.small room/ bathroom, old furniture, old tv, window view in a small and noisy inner court, poor natural daylight. There are only 2 good rooms, the ones that are presented on the site, but not everybody is so lucky to get one of them. The information supplied indicated that this hotel had an internet service, it did not.
