We booked in for the wine tour and tasting weekend. Our host, José was very friendly and informative. His passion for his wine-making and his region and village really shone through. Tapas with wine tasting were great. Breakfasts were amazing and the best we've experienced in Spain. As well as being the hotel owner, José grows the grapes for his excellent wines and is perfect host.
I can think of few hotels that would qualify as both 'budget' and 'luxury':gourmet breakfast and dinner, cozy parlors to relax all afternoon long, at a very economical price. Rooms tastefully decorated, with locally made quilts and other crafts to creat a cozy welcoming atmosphere. But if you are looking for spas & business centers, this isn't for you.

Juan was an excellent host. His wine tour was really interesting and he was very generous with the wine tasting. The hotel was comfortable and the food cooked by Juan's wife was amazing. I would definitely recommend this hotel in a lovely little village.
Superb cuisine - we had the best dinners in the whole Rioja region. Great atmosphere, super friendly staff ("staff" as in "owners"), fantastic house wine. Highly recommended for a stay in Rioja.
right in the centre of town but a little hard to find. Free computer use. Lovely old building.
Beautiful hotel, charming staff, superb food - excellent place to stay.
Location isn't ideal, in that you will have to drive to any of the local attractions, but when 'far' = 15 minutes away there really isn't much to complain about. Abalos is more of a bedroom community, with the nearest village about 5 minutes away.
Nothing.
Abalos is a pretty shut-down village - nothing much to see and do except for morning runs through the vineyards. But then again, Briones, Laguardia and Haro are just 15 minutes away.
The way in is round the side not the impressive front door.
Nothing really - the town of Abalos is not particularly exciting.
