  Nikko Park Lodge Mountainside was a really cosy, quiet and convenient place to stay, not to mention really friendly. It was away from the main street in a beautiful wooded area and yet still only a 10 minute short jaunt down to the main station area (or there was a shuttle bus provided for people with less motivation than us!).   The location of the hotel was a huge plus. It was directly across the street from the jr Nikko train station, and a short walk from the Nikko Tobu station. For those without a car, you can catch a bus to the onsens/lake area, or to the temples (although walking to the temples from the hotel only took approximately 25-30 minutes).   The best thing about this B&B is the relaxing bath with glass windows overlooking the river -this is not a real onsen, i.e., the water is not from a hot spring, but it is good. I also appreciated that the room had an ensuite bathroom+toilet, which is not always the case in Japanese B&Bs. The breakfast is not too rich (basically toast, fruits and a boiled egg), but it was big enough to fill, and the lady who prepared it was really nice too. I still recommend it. Take the bus to see Kegan Fall, it is beautiful.
