This was one of the best hotels we stayed in Japan. The location was very easy, we just took the subway to reach Kokusaikaikan and the directions on the subway took us directly to the hotel. It was a very comfortable and nice room, with free internet. The buffet downstairs was very good for dinner and the surrounding environment was very nice and green. As my older daughter was in the room one day, they didn' t have oppurtinity to clean the room, so they presented us 500 JPY gift check for it.

A perfect hotel if you'd like to get away from the japanese business hotels with the small rooms. If you are traveling as a family or if you are older, this is the best choice in Kyoto as far as I'm concerned. that required a Japanese speaker. I would highly recommend this hotel. -
The location is superb for a taste of real Kyoto. Beautiful streets full of temples around. We were in a two-room (suite) japanese room with bathrooom during Gion Matsuri so that price was high but reasonable. This is a family Ryokan and hence lacks services. The dedication and desire to please of the family that runs the hotel highly compensates. I would certainly like to return.
