  I've been to Venice many times but never before managed to secure a reservation at the Pensione Accademia. They were very friendly, telling us to make ourselves at home and opening up the various cakes and pastries in the kitchen. Venice is expensive, but Ca' Santo Spirito was fairly good value for city.
