The staff were fantastic. Both young women were friendly, courteous and helpful. When we mixed our dates up and blythely overstayed, they worked out a way to accommodate us in their fully-booked hostel. The location is terrific. We were in Venice for the Biennale and walked to all the Pavilions from the hostel. We discovered it was quicker to walk than take a vaperetto to the Giardini and Arsenale. We also enjoyed the very social gatherings around the breakfast table with women from all corners.

I liked the old building itself with marble floors, high ceilings, big breakfast room and nice living room where guest can sit and talk, it adds to the feel of the city. It was incredibly clean during all the 5 days that I stayed. The staff is very friendly. The location is central. It's a women only place, so if you are not looking for a mixed noisy crowed it is perfect. Alina was the loveliest friendliest manager I've met yet. She is warm, helpful and kind. She is Polish of course! :-) It's a female only hostel which I didn't know when I booked. Good location but the square it's located on is busy and noisy, so if you're there on a Friday or Saturday night, ask for a dorm room at the back. I would stay here again if I visit Venice in the future. Friendly Venice was well located near water bus stop, Piazza San Marco and other locations. It was women only, which I really appreciated, and the staff was friendly. I also enjoyed meeting other women travelers from around the world. FV is not fancy, but it is friendly and has a feel of being somewhere else. It's good to be put out of one's comfort zone from time to time. the two ladies that works there are extremely nice and helpful, though their english skills a bit poor. the hostel located 10 or 15 minutes from san marko, which is nice but really far from the rialto bridge. i loved the friendly atmospere and the fact that there was a big kitchen table where everyone ate in. definetly come back again!. Fantastic location, nice design, I liked it very much!. Beautiful building, authentic and very clean, huge bathroom, nice welcome, nice customers in there, near San Marco and everything you can need around. Internet is working well as well. Good breakfast, i recommand this place if you are looking for something cheap but clean and comfortable!. friendly staff, location (view from the window, near piazza San Marko), interior of the house and the hostel itself (in Italian style), wifi password is very big, I did it correctly only at the third attempt :) the way to the supermarket is not very fast, but it's OK. The localization is wonderful! Very close to Academia Bridge (and more another 2 ones) if you need to take a waterbus; closer to TrainStation and Place San Marco. The staff is very friendly also and give me some tips. I like so much!. Great location, female-friendly, and the most important is that it's so clean even though people have to share bathroom here. Overall, experience here is good and a quite relax. friendly staff, its not far from San Marko square, good breakfast and friendly people. also excellent bathroom, there is a computer with internet in the hostel. It's very clean and very comfortable just like at your home ! The breakfast is good. It's very convenient that it's near the sightseeing and the vaporetto. This is really safe, clean and elegant place. The room (I stayed in 4-bed room) was relly big, with plenty of space between my bed and my neighbors'. Nice and comfortable place for girls.. Very good location, close to water bus station and San Marco Square. when I arrived,I was told no room available!!! the staff cannot speak English! but the Silk Road Guest House is very good!. Our first beds were in a 4 bed room at the back of the hostel. Then when a 2 bed space became available we moved into it. As it turned out our first room was better, the new one being close to the front of the building and the very lively campo outside - very noisy most nights of the week, extremely so Friday and Saturday!. There is nothing at all I can complain about. I was very happy with my choice. Well, it was hot in Venice, very hot, and FV doesn't have air conditioning. I have stayed in lots of hostels and budget hotels, however, and I didn't expect there to be any AC. They put a room unit in the living room, so I was able to do some work in there. - a bit far from the rialto bridge and from the railway station santa lucia. - the water at the shower warent very hot. Not easy to find but Venise is a real labyrinth!. no credit cards accepted, wi-fi is not available in the bedrooms. Them could provide a free maps to tourists (but it is don't matter, because you find it a cheap price) and one of bathroom the shower didn't work. Unstable wifi connection. staff didn't talk in english well. Remind you that some tourists might snore loudly in the night if you live in the room of 4～5 persons, it was very noisy. The coffee on breakfast was really disgusting. The staff hardly speak English, but this is common Italian problem. The staff don't speak English so it was a little bit hard to understand them but they are very kind and nice Low signal of wifi in the room but its a small thing.. One of two girls (which works at nights) is very bad in English. Payments are only in cash. Take your check, when you pay, at once and keep it, because they doesnt't remember about payments and doesn't have any system on the computer (all operations are written in the exercise-book). I didn't like that they had removed my luggage without my agreement when I had been out, so I slept in different rooms each night. There's no lift, besides. Reception girl didnt speak good english, very hard to ask local infomation, no city map apply. The noise of people walking through the piazza late at night was annoying even through closed windows and shutters. No lock on the dorm door. Dorm door let in every sound from the common room. The breakfast is very simple, but decent. Internet only worked at the lobby. In October there was very cold in the evening and at night!. The stairs. the stairs (at the bridge) from/to nearest water bus station (Academia) and stairs to enter the motel. They're very stiff & narrow and not friendly for heavy traveler like me :-(. staff know very little english, can't give you further help of your travel. There was an extra 3-euro per night tax... or so they said. Might be true. No plugs next to my bed. There's not much socialising and the WiFi is pretty weak outside of a couple of the common areas. I chose this hostel cause it was female only, however one of the staff was male, and he talked loudly over phone for over 30 minutes in the midnight while he was smoking in the room. The staff barely speak English. accept cash only. A tiny bit hard to find. - staff hardly speak English - no credit cards accepted - you additionally have to pay some strange "taxes" - no city maps available. Notice that if you arrive in winter (not in the season), you won't be able to enter the door after twelve o'clock because there is high tide (flow) that floods the entrace and even the atrium. The bed was not comfort. They don't get a credit card, just cash. The woman who is responsable for explain about the rules and the house doesnt speak English. The hostel doesnt accept credit card despit of letsbookhotel.com say yes. the localization is not so good, it far away from the main train station. if you have too heavy luggage, that's too far away to carry. I want to eat ham or sausage in the morning :-(. a bit hard to find at night. Quite expensive, but Venice is expensive everywhere. Staff can barely speak English, very difficult to communicate. Cash only for payment. The bed is super small while it sounds loud when you move slightly. Only one fan in a big room and there is no facility for keeping away mosquitos, so it is very hard to fall asleep for the hot and mosquitos. Breakfast cannot be simpler and coffee tastes like water. Internet can only be searched in the hall-room. when I arrived,I was told no room available!!! the staff cannot speak English! but the Silk Road Guest House is very good!.
