A wonderful hidden gem in the hills of beautiful Gargnano. Arriving in the tiny village after driving from France and having a small car crash we were very stressed and shaken... within 5 minutes Antonella had dissolved our worry and we were smiling and relaxed. A great welcome, there was chilled sparlkling wine, glasses with strawberries and amarretti cookies waiting for us in our room as it was our honeymoon! Probably my best overall experience of any accomodation I've ever stayed at due to the hospitality and generocity of the hosts. The chef even offered us to take his windsurfing gear to try out on the lake. Never felt so welcomed by any host. Rooms are c. We (family with boys 13 & 17yrs) loved our 5-day stay here. Our hosts Antonella and Roberto were fantastic. They offer genuine Italian hospitality – lovely people and lovely food. We relaxed totally here – this is a secret mountain-village getaway; we feel so lucky to have discovered it. This is worth the 30min scenic mountain drive from Lake Garda if you want to experience rural charm, tranquillity and beauty. Playing cards in the bar, exchanging ‘buona seras’ with the locals – we felt lik. Some hotels are better, some are worse, but this small hotel is quite different from everything else - in a positive sense. All the time, these little surprises were coming on - a nice dining terrace in the middle of this romantic hamlet. Then, the dinner, wow. The evening view from the balcony, only to be beaten by the morning view. The breakfast - phew! Gorgeous! Quite near to the lake Garda (we actually walked there) ...but not too near. Excellent hosts who were very hospitable and gave us a true feeling of Italy. The food was extremely delicious, we had there the best traditional Italian breakfast and dinner. The room was very clean and cosy and from the balcony we enjoined a stunning view of the mountains. I will recommend Locanda Genzianella to all my friends. Wonderful hosts and location....but if you want nightlife and crowds...not for you. Really enjoyed our 2 nights but was long enough at end September. Fantastic walks. Good price, very friendly staff, they were waiting for us to 2am, rich breakfast, nice view from window on the mountains, fridge in the room. Food excellent, staff excellent, location-off the tourist trail with stUnning walks and friendly people. Beautifully rustic location, run by lovely people, reasonably priced and very good food too. it was perfect! owners ares really friendly! and the drive from Gargnano is fantastic!. - Quite a long drive through the mountains to get there, but it's so worth it !!!. I really hated ... to leave this place :(. Not absolutely minus, but last 70km of the road is really adventure. There is narrow way with tunnels and 180 degree turns along the rocks. It is 1,5hour way. But if you have time, you will enjoy very nice nature :-). Nothing- I will be back!.
