We checked out early purely because we wanted more of an island experience rather than an 'Athens city' one. You will definitely get the feel of what it's like living right in the middle of Athens.   The concierge spoke English well and was patient with me although the letsbookhotel.com website misrepresented the description for a "sun terrace", which is just a standard balcony and not a outdoor area with sun and views of the city. Great location though not in historic city center.
