  the whole experience at this hotel was absolutely wonderful. The staff were very friendly,nothing was to much trouble. The hotel being on the edge of the forest was probably the in the most woderfull setting i have ever stayed at.   It was what you'd expect from a typical German Gasthof. Friendly staff, pleasant and very clean rooms, excellent continental breakfast. We dined in a few times and the quality of the meals was also excellent - typical hearty German meals. Wernigerode is a picturesque,small town located in the Harz region. There is a beautiful castle overlooking the town which may be reached by tourist bus, train style bus and horse-drawn carriages.
