We stayed only 2 nights in Fabrice's beautiful home in the heart of Rennes but wish we had stayed much longer! The rooms of this historic building are beautifully furnished and cosy with private bathrooms and are made up each day with fresh towels etc. The rooms have tea & coffee making facilities and there is wine, cider and other treats available in the communal lounge area. Breakfast is served either in your room or in the lounge and is a beautiful selection of homemade crepes, pastries .
所有评语 » The owner--Fabrice--has restored his home, which is the oldest in Rennes dating from the 15th century, in an historically-sensitive style and decorated it with authentic antiques. The room was elegant, quiet, and so comfortable that we were only sorry our visit was so brief because the location is perfect for visiting the old city. Our room overlooked a private interior garden where we enjoyed a bottle of cider in the late afternoon. In the morning we feasted on a delicious breakfast of fres. This is an excellent B&B. The owners have an extraordinary eye and the place is furnished and decorated with the most eclectic collection of paintings, sculptures and furniture you can imagine. So tasteful and interesting. As this is one of the oldest houses in Rennes (the oldest?) it is oozing character. Every room is different, and all beautiful. There is an excellent rooftop patio where they serve a breakfast that really should not be missed Cereal, fruit, pastries, yoghurt, and a lo. This historic building is a destination in its own right with its massive fireplaces and beautifully worn wood. It's delightfully decorated with a modern sensibility that plays well around original architectural elements. A lounge and a patio extend space available to the visitor. Candlelit breakfasts were a special treat. The owner was exceptionally gracious and helpful and went out of his way to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. I spent five nights at Symponie des Sens in May 2013 and had a wonderful time. When I checked in Fabrice was out of town so his father check me into my room. Both Fabrice and his father were charming and very helpful. The room was spacious and very quiet. Breakfast was delicious. It was a great experience to be able to stay in one of the oldest buildings in Rennes. Very tastefully decorated. Fantastic location. Highly recommended. Fabrice the owner was wonderful. we arrived very late at night on a delayed train from paris and he stayed up to welcome us and gave directions to help us get there. the breakfast was absolutely superb, the best ive had anywhere in france. very generous and good quality. we stayed in the attic suite which was gorgeous, pictures cannot do it justice. very clean and linen smelt divine. We have been staying at Relais Chateaux properties around Brittany and found that Symphonie des Sens would compare favourably. The great bonus is that Symphonie des Sens is superb accommodation at half the price of Relais properties. The owner, Fabrice, is wonderful. He even bakes his own pastries and they are delicious. The oldest building in the charming city of Rennes, this inn is every bit as exceptional as I had read. Beautiful suite for our family, really lovely breakfast with candelabra, incredible views of the medieval city. Fabrice is a wonderful host. Well worth the money. Our family room was HUGE and beautiful! I could have moved in. Everything is so tastefully decorated, spotless, so comfortable, well thought out. The building is one of Rennes oldest and could not be better location for seeing the city. Fabrice makes it so easy, he's the perfect host. The house is so charming, and the Tirebouchon restaurant in front is quite authentic. Symphonie des Sens is a great discovery, when I'm back to Rennes I'll definitely repeat. Keep it so up!. We simply loved our stay at Symphonie des sens. The building had loads of character and our room (Renati) was lovely. Fabrice, the owner was great and could not do enough for you. I also recommend the candlelit breakfast!. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They made our stay very enjoyable. And the building is a throw back to the life hundreds if years ago, but upgraded fir twentieth century conveniences. Charm par excellence!. The facility is absolutely charming, situated in an 15th century building. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious and charming. The location is in the heart of the old city. Fascinating 16th century building, beautifully restored and brought up to date just enough for 21st century travellers. Owner Fabrice very friendly and informative. Helpful with luggage and stairs. Staying in the oldest house in Rennes, built in 1435 - before Columbus discovered America! The service provided by Fabrice was wonderful, very accommodating and lovely special touches at breakfast. Great location for shopping and restaurants. Small and intimate. Lovely house from 1400's that has been renovated with two rooms per floor. Owners are so helpful in every way. Fabrice apologised that our bathroom was on the small side but as this is a heritage listed building, he is restricted by what he is able to change - The apology was not necessary as he has made fabulous and very clever use of the space!. i loved everything. only word of caution for passengers with mobility issues is there is no lift so if staying on top floor there are a few stairs. of course is to be expected with such an exceptional historical building. This is a very minor negative so please don't be put off by the comment, but you cannot drive up to the property to unload your luggage. You must park, most likely illegally, at a very close square to unload and then wheel your luggage to the property. The property is not far from the square, but it is a bit inconvenient. However, the quality of the rooms and the value for money more than make up for this small inconvenience. Lots of stairs (but that added to the charm). Parking situation was a bit difficult and you need to allow extra time for that and negotiating the one way system. I can not fault anything at Symphonie des sens. The staff didn't speak much English but could make due. It was not a problem. Access very difficult. Parking some distance away as the hotel is in a pedestrian historic centre. Bathroom was tiny but functional. If you don't like steps this might not be the best place for you --while rooms are lovely and unique, you may be in a room that demands climbing a few flights. Wifi not available in our room. Being an old house, there is no soundproofing between room and corridor but this is a minor trade off compared to the beauty and charm of the place. Wifi was off & on the first couple of days. The room is a bit dark even with all the chandeliers. No lift for luggage. Bed was a bit hard. Access to the hotel can be tricky.
