For the price, this was good value and an excellent location. The accommodation is a bit basic but spacious, clean and comfortable, and the breakfast is good. The pedestrianised area is a bit of a maze, but GPS got us there directly, you just have to push the button by the bollard and say where you are going and the voice lets you in. My only gripe is about the sponsored wifi which necessitated repeated log on attempts to get it to work. However it is free and, at the price of the accommodation.
所有评语 » Budget hotel built into a fabulous building, part of the cathedral buildings complex. Right in the centre of the city but not noisy. Complicated to find with an intense one way system, the sat nav did us proud. It is located in a pedestrian area so don't be put off when you come face to face with bollards across the road. It was worth a few minutes on maps.google street view before we left. When the sat nav declares you have arrived the hotel gate is actually behind you!. Excellent position in centre of town one street away from the cathedral. Parking on site was a bonus. Our room was well sized, very clean and simply appointed. The shower room was a module inserted in this very old building. A lift was a bonus. The people at reception were lovely as was the lady from the Philippines in the breakfast room. The breakfast was generous and excellent. Wifi was good. The hotel is maybe a 100 yards from the cathedral and it is stunning. Lots of restaurants in walking distance. The entire area is a pedestrian zone. The rooms are very affordable and clean. A wonderful view of the city. The staff was very friendly, but limited availability, it's really more like a hostel than a hotel. And there's free parking!. A building with original ancient gothic arches and vaults (at the entrance in the breakfast hall, not in the rooms), located 50 meters behind the main cathedral. Rooms are quite small, but clean and with wifi internet connection. Very satisfactory for the money you pay. Breakfast is abundant, with fresh products and also some home-made cakes. Fantastic location, a few metres from the Cathedral. Own Parking Lot. Beautiful view from the light rooms. One of the few hotels where you get enough light in the evening to read a book. Prepare very well your drive through the narrow and one-direction streets of Chartres to reach the Hotel. Without car: very easy. So near to the Cathedral. Very unusual with bags of character, splendid building, ideal location in the heart of Chartres old town, walking distance from all the sites, room very clean, very quiet, fantastic views. Free and secured Parking. Very friendly receptionist, on duty up to 8pm on a Sunday evening, we were provided with plenty of useful information. The ambiance of a 'retreat' in a very old building. It was very cheap compared to the other city-centre locations in Chartres. Breakfast was unlimited with a great range of items. In the shadow of Chartres Cathedral and close to the city centre. Although in the pedestrianised part of the city centre, parking places were available. I liked the fsact that the building had such historic value. The atmosphere of the former Monastry made me me calm and peaceful. The close proximity to the centre of Chartes plus on site parking was excellent. All the staff were attentive and charming. The Chambermaid was a lovely young lady who had a ready smile for the guests. Unusual situation right in the amazing cathedral precinct, close to shops and cafes.Good parking once you have actually found the place . It's easy once you know how but we parked first and walked it before attempting to bring the car in ! Extremely good value breakfast with fruit, boiled eggs, cake etc Very friendly staff. The hotel is located right next to the cathedral - the main attraction of Chartres, 10 mins from station. The staff are welcoming, courteous, and helpful. The room was comfortable, clean and well-equipped. Reasonable value for money overall. Breakfast was nice too (not included in price). Ideal for solo traveller. Excellent location. We arrived late and the staff was very accommodating with late coming guests. We could leave the car in the parking while visiting the cathedral and the village in the morning, after checking out. there were only twin rooms when we booked, but could pull the two beds together for a double. Located practically at the steps of the Cathedral and many restaurants nearby. Wonderful breakfast and quiet room with a picturesque view. The secure parking was an added benefit. Had trouble with no working light in the bathroom, but maintenance came and fixed it within 10 minutes. The Staff were very helpful and considerate, the building was breathtakingly beautiful, the rooms were perfect for a short (3 night stay) and the shower produced hot water almost instantly first thing in the morning (5 a.m.), unlike many a 4 and 5 star hotel I have stayed in. The staff was wonderful and very patient with foreigners, the rooms were well-apportioned, the entire building is beautiful, the view is magnificent, and the cathedral of Chartres is right around the corner. All this for less than €50 (very early in the season, to be clear). it was amazing, peaceful yet within walking distance of the lovely old town. Breakfast was great in a lovely room.The staff were very helpful with information of what to see and do. The car park is very useful, they also let us keep our car parked when we had booked out. Hotel is a converted seminary and the rooms reflected that,they were spartan as we're the facilities and this is what we expected.staff were charming and the location was superb,a minutes walk from the cathedral and five minutes from every where else. excellant value. Fabulous building next to cathedral. We had an amazing view over gardens, town and labyrinth. Great location for shopping and food/drink. Rooms pretty good but basic as you would expect in a monastery. Dog welcome at small fee. Private parking. Lovely staff. This hotel was perfectly placed in a wonderful town. The staff were friendly with the room being fresh and clean. You should not miss the laser show that that lights up the cathedral after dark and then follow the blue lights through the market square. The hotel has great atmosphere, Although the room is small, one can imagine to be monk. We was happy as our window was directed to the excellent view on Cathedral what was magnificent. Chartres is very nice city with plenty of interesting places. We absolutely loved the hotel. Very good breakfast. This is an inspired conversion of an historic building in the heart of old Charters, next to the Cathedral. A wonderful place to stay. The receptionist on duty at 2 pm on Saturday 11 October was excellent. She was very polite and helpful in all respects. The wifi as above. Bring your GPS or you will never get your car close. And be sure you know how to say, "Good day, we have reservations at St. Yves." Those are the magic words to getting past the road barriers. So, nothing bad with the hotel, just know it's hard to get to by car. The breakfast (not included in the room price) is not cheap (currently 7.90 euros), but not so expensive if you look at the prices of other bars and brasseries in the city center. Nothing, we were very satisfied. The bathroom was like a ferry cabin bathroom! The room was quite sparsely furnished. Vehicle access was 'interesting'... I prefer Duvets to blankets as it makes the sleep experience seem more coy. Also, in the room I was in, the mattress could have been a better quality one to avoid the feeling of bumps and lumps. Fairly simple room, no tv but who cares?. The shower was a little cramped and small, but was adequate for my needs for a short stay. hard to find especially in the dark, even the staff already sent detailed instructions before our travel. Entering the pedestrian area and navigating the final turn into the hotel was a little challenging in that the road is very narrow and steep and very little margin for error if you miss the turn. Nothing. Be sure to have detailed directions if driving. Bathroom indeed very small but clean and functional. We followed sat nav by street name and found it quite easily but be aware that it is in the pedestrian area and you need to call for assistance to lower the bollards. Great experience!. The hotel is in a traffic restricted area - it could have been made clearer that all you do is approach the bollards and ring the hotel using the green button. Nothing. Finding our way to the hotel in the old city with narrow streets was rather difficult, even with a GPS. somewhere reasonably comfortable just to sit and relax and perhaps have access to any kind of drink. Bathroom - although perfectly functional it was rather cramped and we had no soap or toilet tissue when we arrived. the pillows were too hard; the room was featureless - could have been anywhere (the hotel deserves better); the shower was a 'cabin' type, very down market. We could only get a twin bed room. Difficult to get to by car due to being in a pedestrian precinct. Shame the refurb has been completed cheaply. No full length mirror in the bedroom. No refreshment facilities in the room. Nothing. The shower room was a modular one and whilst perfectly adequate wasn't luxurious. However the price overall was so fair we wouldn't expect top notch fixtures and fittings. It was a little bit spartan, but we didn't care. A little hard to find but the staff will talk you in!. Bathroom is a sort of "pod" dropped into the room. The bathroom was tiny. It was hard to find. It would be good if they could give clear directions for walking up from the station - we went up and down a lot of steps with our suitcases unnecessarily. Lack of public seating areas. Access to the hotel by car is down a very narrow lane and there may not be a parking space available when you get there. Even with printed instructions it's a bit difficult to find. -. Nothing to do with the hotel, but not the easiest place to find. Have a detailed map or good GPS with you. nothing. Difficult to get into. You really have to pay attention to the instructions on getting into the hotel grounds. Don't try to get there at night!. Drove around for an hour trying to find it with our GPS. Need better directions to the parking lot. The same cannot be said of the receptonist on duty at 6pm on the same day. My wife was trying to get an overseas call to me but despite calling 4 times she always got a recorder message. When confronted the redeptionist was very rude and arrogantly said that she does not answer the phone when she has people at her counter. I hope the hotel owners get to know about this and give a big repremand to this arrogant and rude receptionist.
